Hands down the best person I came across in my life.

I was greatly saddened to hear of Sonny's passing. I knew Sonny from highschool and last saw him at his home in Edmonton for an extention of our 10 year highschool reunion. I was fortunate enough to meet his beautiful wife and lovely family. My deepest condolences to you all.

Sonny was one of those individuals that everyone could not help but like. So dynamic, with a fantastic sence of humor. He was never afraid to put himself "out there" and always made everyone laugh. He had an energy that was hard to descibe: accepting, warm, welcoming. It was no surprise that he became a doctor.

Anytime I've opened my highschool year book over the years, I couldn't help but laugh at some of those picture of Sonny and have absolute admiration for his sence of humor, his spirit and the way he made people feel.

I know Sonny came to this world to make a difference. . . and he did.

To the Anand Family, I extend my most heartfelt condolences.

Sonny was an inspiration to all who met him. He had a talent for cheering people up and making them laugh. He always knew just what to say to brighten one's spirit. It is fitting that he chose psychiatry as his speciality, he was born to counsel. I am sure he made a tremendous impact on his patients.

I met Sonny in high school and knew him mainly through his brother Willy. I have many fond memories of simply just hanging out, and laughing. Later, I had the good fortune of attending the same medical school with Sonny (he was two years my senior). I especially remember how he would use his comedic words of wisdom to build me up when I was stressed or disheartened during my clerkship. He was a mentor like no other, incredibly knowledgable, kind, and understanding with a flair for the lighter side of life.

To the entire Anand family, please accept my most sincere sympathies. I wish you peace and strength at this challenging time.

Dear Gurdarshan and family.
I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear passing of Sonny. He was one of my bright students in my Calculus Class in the Grande Prairie Regional College, Grande Prairie AB in the academic year 1987 – 88 – when he was about to get into Med School.
Sonny had health difficulties – but when I unexpectedly met him in Royal Alex Hospital in Edmonton he was in surprisingly good spirits.
I do not know how but I found myself thinking of the Anand family few days ago – Gurcharan, Sonny, Willy, Jimmy, and yourself in Grande Prairie setting, and the thought would come back to me again and again. And, I heard the sad news yesterday (Sat Jan 19, 2013 – late, of course).
Sonny was too young to leave. We pray for peace for him.
It is very hard for Navdeep and the children also to cope up with the loss. You are also in our thoughts.

Many condolences to the Anand family for your loss of Sonny a person I could never forgot even after all these years. I will always remember running into Sonny at U of A and telling me how he was getting through med school with such confidence and humor (sequestering himself in his apartment for 2 days to study). In high school his positive outlook, humor along with his energy was envious by so many that had the privilege to have known him.

It seems like a very short time ago that Sonny and Chris were inseperable preschoolers. They would be at one of our trailers or finding interesting things to do outside, like licking the frost on the propane tank (that didn't end well). Sonny was like one of our family. I always looked forward to his big smile and his deep-voiced, "Hello, Mrs Thomson". Such a delightful, polite little fellow!
A very grown-up Dr. Anand came to Heinsburg School a few years ago to show his wife where he started school. He was as happy to find his old Gr.1 teacher still there as I was to see one of my favorite students again. He really hadn't changed much -well he was a lot taller, but other than that, he was still the same polite deep-voiced Sonny that I had known. And his smile was just as dazzling!
My deepest condolences got out to Sonny's family. May you find strength to bear this terrible loss. And may your memories of an outstanding young man bring you comfort.

To Sonny's family: I was deeply saddened to hear of Sonny's passing. Although we didn't have a lot of contact over the years Sonny's energy and presence have been with me since the day we met. He was a force of nature, an exuberant man that always left people smiling. I remember when we prepared for the grad fashion show and an airband competition, Sonny's enthusiasm was boundless! He could have gone into acting and had a wonderful impact, just as I am sure he did in the medical profession. He isn't gone because we will all carry some of his energy with us and I will carry Vice President of the Composite High School, school leader, caring person and friend Sonny's spirit and energy with me forever. Thank you for your time with us Sonny. Your friend, Sandy.

Dear Gurdarshan,
It was with deep sorrow that nalini and I learnt about the sad demise of Sonny. Radha, my daughter, (she went to school with Sonny) told us this morning. In fact she did visit Sonny and his wife many years ago in Edmonton.
I hope God gives you the strength to bear this tragedy. I hope you remember us. We used to live in GP, but have moved to Toronto to be closer with our son and daughter.
