My condolences to you all. I remember Mary as a wonderful role model. Her impact on me was profound and still felt over these many long years.

Dear Clair and family,

I've recently heard with great sadness of Mary's death. She was special to me as to many others, for her insight and generosity to other writers and for the constancy of her friendship. I first met her through the Alberta Branch of the Canadian Authors' Association, had the pleasure of visiting with both of you at your Athabasca retreat and remember her kind words when I finally reached a significant milestone last October. Through her books for children and young adults, her spiritual reflections and *Fruitbodies*, her wonderful book of poetry and prose celebrating mature women, she contributed a great deal to the community of writers and readers in Edmonton, Canada and beyond.

With deep affection,

Allison Kydd

Dear Clair and Dave, Ian, Pete and Rob,it is now FE 5/13 and I have just learned of Mary's death. Was away at Epiphany, and family visit. I remember- so many things of the early days when you were studying theology, Mary hosted so many of us in your home, Prayer Cells at Sydenham UCC, weekends at IAWAH, and dear Mary risking our friendship to challenge me to remain in this beloved United Church, and ever so much more; Mary is the first one who began to open my eyes and my spirit. Bless her, Bless you All...
Lovingly, Donna Krucik.

Dear Clair and family: My deepest sympathy is with you all on the loss of a very special lady. She always made one feel special when she was with you. Her gift of music and love of others will be greatly missed. We will miss her in church services at Athabasca United. May God's arms enfold you with His peace and comfort.

Mary invited me for tea and showed me the study where she worked on her books in her home in the valley when I brought her the packet from friend Kathy Braid of Paul Braid's souvenirs from WWII to use while writing The Flight of the Tiger Moth. She wrapped the white silk pilot's carf around her neck and flung the end over her shoulder and held the pilot's  log in her hands saying that she only ever seen a pilot's log once before opened to one page behind glass in a display case. Her acknowledgement is in he book and now comes up when we Google our names. We met her family at the book launch at the Aviation Museum and extend warmest condolences. Love those books....
