My dear Winifred,
I am saddened to find out about Helmets passing. In the years I have known you both my life was richer.
The conversations about yours and Helmets early life was an experience all in its own and Iam truly grateful for the sharing.
Since you left Smoky Lake I've missed you dearly.
Be well and Iam always here for you.

Dear Catherine and Winifred,
Wishing you moments of peace to shine through the sadness.
I will always remember your beautiful family and the love and laughter of Helmut. We shared many fond childhood memories at the farm. (Water balloons with Chris, Winifred's waffles & wisdom, riding Bunky & Kaiser with Catherine, and endless badminton with Helmut!)
My apologies for the late acknowledgement. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love Liz Monaghan (nee Bennett)

Dear Winnie and Catherine: Our condolences to you both. We have such fond memories of you as neighbours. We did not know of Helmut's death until we read it in the U of A alumni magazine. Our apologies for this late acknowledgement. John and Anne Packer

Dear Winnifred and Catherine,
My deepest condolences in Helmut's passing. My parents, Bill and Pauline, treasured their friendship with you Winnifred and with Helmut. Helmut and my father were a team in many a horseshoe game, one year traveling to the Alberta Senior Games to test their skill in a greater pit. I will always remember Helmut placing a horseshoe on Bill's casket at his burial. I trust their paths will cross in the next world and the clang of metal upon metal will echo across the water's of the North Saskatchewan as they toss ringers.
Helmut, here's to peaceful rest, between games of course.

May God be with at this time of seepest sorrow. Winnie and Catherane.

I have regarded Helmut Schroer as a favorite friend and colleague. Sending his family my deepest and most sympathetic condolences, I am 90 year old Helen Diemert of Fargo, ND.

Dear Winifred, Catherine and family, I was so sorry to learn of Helmut's passing. During the six years we spent together at Crestwood School, Helmut inspired hundreds of students to appreciate art and to view the world with open eyes and heart.
He was a man in full and a wonderful role model for impression able young adolescence. He will leave an enduring legacy in the minds of the many students, parents and friends whose lives were impacted by his talent, his breath of knowledge and his love of life. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

My sincere condolences to Winifred and Catherine. I often think of Helmut and Winifred and consider our friendship to be a gift: the many meals we shared: the card games played; the sunny summer afternoons on the deck under the shade of the umbrella; the walks down to most beautiful spot by the river; the art shows; picking wild berries; the hilariously funny, slightly off-colour jokes and stories; Helmut's curiosity and interest in all things; his wit and laughter. May he find Joyce in their new reality to share a sunny summer afternoon in the shade of an umbrella.

Dear Winifred & Catherine: Love and prayers sent to you at this difficult time. I will fondly remember our parents visiting at your farm near Bellis and all of us kids playing for hours. Your father and mine are catching up in heaven right now, and having a hearty laugh (especially if there are any skunks there).

My deepest condolences to the Schroer family. Mr. Schroer was my Social Studies teacher at Bonnie Doon High School. Our paths crossed many years later at the Cross when his son Christopher was ill and although it was a very sad time it was good connecting and meeting his lovely wife Winifred. You were truly blessed to have such an outstanding husband and father.
