A Daughters Words

I remember when I was little and how you used to scoop me up in your arms and call me your plp.

My dad, now you are gone, my heart breaks every day and I cry to have you back but there is no escaping the reality and the road ahead of me seems so dark and long.

I know you went to god, and you are no longer in pain but I can't help thinking if there was something that I could have done for you to be healthy and remain.

I don't know what to do, I don't know where I am going but I know that you are not here with me..that is all I know….I just wish I could of changed things for you..to soften your blow.

I know my faith is supposed to keep me close, but that too now seems to be gone.

The ten year old girl cries out in my soul, she doesn't want her dad to be dead. The agony is palpable I can feel it in my heart this pain.

I must fight the feeling of breaking down completely from screaming out, from shaking my hands to the sky and continue to ask the question why… they say I must try to refrain as this is just part of the pain.

When my mind quiets down and the emotions are momentarily drained, I remember all the good times knowing that you passed a good man, knowing you did the best you could in life and knowing that you were a gift from god to me.

For that I am thankful.

Always your daughter.

We were saddened to read of Len's passing while we were on vacation. You can take comfort in how proud he was of his family. We will miss our "over the fence" chats. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. The McCann family
