Original poem for Ruth.

A Poem written on a leaf,
Floating on a river,
As beautiful as a snowflake,
And lost forever.
January-30-15
My sincere gratitude is with Ruth forever. She saved me and my 3 children. She provided me with so much non-judgmental
guidance and support, I would never have made it without her.
She even attended court with me and treated me to a glass of wine with her afterward. I will never forget how much she (and staff) helped me when I was at WIN 2 in 1985 with 2 toddlers and 6 months pregnant. Because I was so afraid for my children's and my lives, she extended my stay from 3 to 6 weeks and I went to Calgary and then to 2nd stage housing there until my baby was 6 weeks old. As I was too homesick, she allowed me to return to Winhouse for an additional 6 weeks in order to obtain affordable housing. I became completely self-sufficient and have done well as have my 3 children. She told me I was her success story for 1985. As I wish I'd contacted her (I'd checked for Edmonton phone numbers before) and thank her in person and I've often thought of her, I wanted to make her guest book available for her family permanently and give them my thanks and gratitude. She was such an extraordinary women!

My deepest sympathy goes out to Ruth's family. I will always remember Ruth for her unwavering belief and support of women facing domestic violence. She was most certainly and inspiration to the field.

Sincerely, Cathy Kampjes(Harboway)
