I met Wes shortly after I moved to Edmonton in the early 80's. As I young urban planner I admired Wes. He was intelligent, funny, charming, an amazing planner and all around great guy. I looked up to him. Over the years I would run into Wes and we would chat about planning and live. Both of us would laugh and tell stories. The last time I saw Wes was I believe less than a year ago. I ran into him at Jumbo Dim Sum. Once again we chatted and laughed. He talked about life on the coast and how happy he was. Little did I know that I would never see this bespectacled man with the over present goatee again. Peace be with you my friend. With all the people in Heaven I'm sure there is need for one great planner. :)

David and Family: Linda and I send our best wishes that you might not feel quite so alone knowing that your community sends its love and respect to you at this time. We may never have met your Wes, but we certainly can imagine how positive and vivacious he must have been because of how you all are. We will do what we can to keep that spirit alive in our community by savouring and enjoying you all.

I enjoyed the times that I worked with Wes on our projects at Samson Cree Nation. My condolences to the family.

Wes had a way of making everyone feel good with his cheerful manner and laughter. He will be remembered as a great neighbor, at the skating rink coaching the hockey players, at Marmot ski hill in Jasper, trying to teach us how to ski, at the Malmo Community dances and in Arizona at the Dirt Water Saloon. May the memories you treasure give you solace in the days ahead. Our sincere sympathy.

My sincere condolences to Deanne & family on the sudden passing of Wes. Things can change so quickly that we have no control over. Treasure the memories.

Hey, Wes! Old friend! Sorry to see you go - sorry you won't be there for a visit next time I come to the Island. You were a good "boss" - and friend. We had many arguments - always respectful - and fun!!

Although it has been many years since I last saw you and worked with you at the old City Hall in the Planning Department I thank you for hiring me and giving me my first job - the memories and the respect that I had will always be remembered- I would like to send my condolences out to the remaining family and to say that he will be remembered by all that worked with him-may God be with you all at this time.

Wes will be remembered by me for his community spirit, his sense of adventure and for his love towards his family and friends. He was so proud of his wife, his 3 sons and his 7 grandchildren. I admired Wes for putting family first yet still having time for friends, following dreams and having a lot of fun along the way. He will be missed. He leaves behind lots of wonderful memories for many including me.
