Josie, i am so sorry to find out Carmen has passed away. My brothers and I have had so many great times with the Champ. He was a world class person, boxer and friend. We just loved the times we had with you and Carmen, life is short, but great memories are lasting. My prayers are with you and all the family, I was so blessed to have known him as a friend.

Miss you Champ,

Kevin

As a child, my Uncle and I would watch the Friday night fights. My hero, the fighter I most admired, was Carmen Basilio. I remember him after every fight kneeling, making the sign of the Cross and saying a prayer of Thanksgiving. A humble man showing his faith in God. Mr. Basilio, you answered the final bell and now wear the belt of Salvation. You were a role model to many, even to people you never met. Reste in Pacis.

Wednesday-Friday night fights was a bonding with my Dad. I still get chills hearing Mr Basilio's name announced in the ring, you knew he gave 110% no punches pulled. Carmen say hello to my Dad he'd be thrilled to meet you. Steve Cas

I once asked, Carmen, "Who was your favorite boxer?"
He replied, "Josie, my wife."
I asked, "How could I lose weight?"
He said, "Sweat."
Always, a quick wit. Always laughing, loving, friendly, and thoughtful of those who admired his fame and aggression in the ring. He didn't sting like a bee. He fought like a tiger. I loved the guy. Love you too, Josie. Love & Prayers, Pajama Lady
