I served under SFC Corley's platoon for almost 2 years in Fort Bliss, but deployed separately, and I can say he very humble with his superiors and subordinate as low as privates...I always how got baptized and took encourage other subordinates to do the same just in case something happens. ..truly cared for soldiers not just as battle buddy but also as spirits.

Sergeant First Class Corley was one of my Drill Sergeants in Basic Combat Training. Although most basic trainees remember their Drill Sergeants with scorn, I always enjoyed the leadership, mentorship, and direction SFC Corley instilled, even when it meant I was doing pushups for some infraction. It was clear to me he was a decent guy who cared for his Soldiers, and would go the distance to ensure they were trained to survive the rigors awaiting them in war. He was the epitome of a professional, honorable Non-commissioned officer and the type of person you'd love to have over for a barbecue. I'm a better Soldier for having known him. Rest in peace.

Unfortunately I did not know SFC Corley in life. I was one of the honor guards tasked with providing military honors at his funeral in the Philippines. It was almost 2 years ago and I never met the man but here I am still thinking about it. To see the grieving family was absolutely heart wrenching. I will never forget his fathers speech. I have no doubts he was a great man and I still pray everyday that he has found peace and that his family's wounds will heal the best they can until the day they are reunited.

Prayer Shawls 4 Fallen Soldiers (ps4fs@charter.net) is an organization with groups throughout the country who work to send handmade prayer shawls and/or lap robes to families who have lost a loved one while serving our country. Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church would like to extend our sincere sympathy and to honor your loved one's sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a prayer gift which will be mailed to you. If you are interested, please contact me at gramman@comcast.net with the names and addresses of those who would like to receive one and which gift they would like to receive. We will send our gift as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved on who died while serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address. SFC Corley. One of a kind! You will always be remembered. Charisma, Greatness, Patience, Kindness are just very few attitudes that can describe how unique you were as a human being. You were really able to influence and change the lives of the soldiers in C 3/47 in April 09. Today and everyday you will be in our prayers...
