I am participating in a challenge started by a friend on Facebook called Never Forget. I chose to remember Erica and share her smile and story with everyone. Please know she is not forgotten. Her beautiful smile and service to our country live on. I will never, ever forget.

I was in the unit she replaced. We taught them all we knew in that valley. Not a day goes by that I don't think of that place. Rest easy sister.

My condolences to Erica's family. I served with 978th MP Co in the 90's as a Specialist.

I didn't get to know SPC Alecksen, but I had the honor of being the NCOIC of the honors team that brought her home. From the airport to the church we traveled more than 25 miles. We didn't go more than 300 yards without someone holding an American flag standing on the side of the road. She must have been very special, as the entire town paused to pay respect to her and her family.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also to let the Aleckson Family to know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in Afghanistan. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

May this promise help you cope with your tremendous loss.(Isaiah 2:4) . . .And he will certainly render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore. . .

The most rewarding moment for a Drill Sergeant is to see their Soldiers graduate from Basic and AIT. That means that that Soldier put 100% effort to become part of an elite force where only 1% of the American people are willing to become part of. SPC Alecksen did just that! I am truly shocked about this news. I just learned about it. I was her Drill Sergeant in E-795th MP CO at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. I saw her grow as a Soldier and as a human being. I am truly sorry for this loss and my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
