I still have you in my thoughts. I am very thankful for the blessing you delivered for me. My son Christopher Anthony! You are very missed and I have you and your family in my prayers!
Although its been a year since we lost an amazing Dr, friend, Father, husband and son may this candle represent the flame that lights our souls in his memory. You will never be forgotten and you will always be remembered and you will all always live in our hearts. May god continue to bless and strengthen his wife and children. RIP Dr Powers!
As we have come upon the 1 year anniversary of his death I want you, his family, to know that Chris continues to be in my thoughts and you in my prayers frequently. He had such an impact on my life, not only in delivering my 2 boys, but he also became a great friend. Chris is sorely missed and I continue to be thankful for his presence in my life.
Love and blessings to you all.
I only got to work with Dr Powers for a short period of time but thats all the time I needed to know that he was an awsome person. His smile could brighten any room. My condolences to Peggy and the rest of his family who he held close to his heart. May he live forever in yours. I work with a couple of Drs who shared many good times with him and miss him dearly. He will live on forever in the minds and hearts of all those whos life he changed.
To the Powers family,
Hoping all of you are doing well & not a day goes by without thinking of you three & Dr. Powers. May you all know our hearts still go out to you & that Dr. Powers is greatly missed by our family as well. God bless you everyday & know how much he is smiling at all three of you. Thank you Dr. Powers, again, for bringing our girls safely into this world.
Chris was the first person I met at Harvard after my roommates. We were standing on a sunny September day in a line in front of Memorial Hall. He was extremely nice. We never got to know each other well but I think it is striking that I have a sharp, bright, clear memory of him after a brief encounter nearly 40 years ago. Please accept my most sincere sympathy at this tragic loss. Sincerely, Dan Poneman
To Peggy, Christopher Jr, & Sara,
Please know that my heart still goes out to each of you everyday. Dr. Powers was an amazing doctor & wonderful human being. He brought our two beautiful girls, Vivian & Evelyn, into this world without hesitation. He loved what he did & he loved his family dearly. He spoke so foundly of each of you every time we spoke. I thank the Lord for putting him in my path & helping me with my pregnancies. This world is not the same. Please know my prayers & heart goes out to each of you everyday. Follow his footsteps and I am sure of it, we will meet again someday. So sorry for your lost and accept our deepest condolences. God bless you all.
My wife Sondra and I wish to extend to the family of Dr. Powers our heartfelt condolences. We have been terribly saddened by his passing. He was our doctor, and an extremely kind, generous and righteous man. We will miss him very much, and we will keep him in our prayers. We know that he was not only among the very best and most committed physicians in Texas, but he was also a man of deep faith. In his honor we are planting a grove trees in Jerusalem. If there is anything at all that we can do for his family during this difficult time, I hope that they will not hesitate to call upon us.
I am so sorry to hear of Chris's passing. He helped me through a difficult year.. the second year of our medical residency What turned out to be a welcoming back for him and a departure for me.. It is so difficult to see such an excellent doctor leave the pulpit and then leave his calling so early
On half of the Rivera Family he will be missed dearly he brought joy and happiness into our lives Alexis Nicole Rivera and Mercedes Rivera our children and with that being said thank u
Juan And Jessica Rivera
Dr. Powers was a great doctor. He delivered my beautiful little girl 5 years ago. He was so nice and had a great smile..... I'm truly sorry to hear of his passing...I'm very sad he was a great human being..
I only got the chance to spend a handful of weeks with Chris when he was still an attorney with Kemp Smith and I was clerking for Kemp Smith as a law student from UVA in 1986. But, it didn't take me long to figure out what a great person he was. He and his wife, Peggy, were so kind to me. I'm happy for the short time I was able to share with him.
I want to give my deepest condolences to Mrs Powers his family and his staff. He was the kindest, compassionate and handsomest Dr you could ever have the honor of knowning. He always was smiling so caring when it came to his patients and his work. It saddens me to know he is no longer with us and I will pray for the good lord to embrace and strengthing his family during this tradegic loss. He brought so many lil lives into this world. I will forever be grateful for the care and kindness he show to me as a patient. I suppose god needed him in heaven. Thank you Dr Powers for all you did for all the hearts you touched. may your spirit live forever and May you rest in peace.
I am a Registered Nurse and was so happy to have finally found a doctor that really took time to listen. Dr. Powers did not just give answers and walk away- he educated and explained his answers. He took time to get to know his patients and their families as well. My sincere condolences to Peggy and family for your loss. I will forever be grateful to have known your husband (and father) and think of him every time I look at my precious blessing.
Sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Powers family for your profound loss. Like many, I had the good fortune of knowing Dr. Powers during his treatment of my wife during our second pregnancy. In addition to being a skilled and talented physician, I also found Chris to be insightful, quick-witted, compassionate, patient, and immensely kind. In short, a good and decent man who will, rightfully, be missed by all who were fortunate enough to share his company and with whom it was my great privilege to know, if even for a short time.

Dr. Powers, Sweetest man I've ever known,
Thank you for raising a Godly, passionate, bold, strong, loving, and beautiful daughter whom will forever be my best friend. I firmly believe your spirit lives in her. How I long to emulate her, you, your son and your beautiful wife. I know your legacy will live on forever on this earth and I cannot wait till the day I can share it with my kids. I pray that my husband will love my baby girl and boy the way you love Sarah and Christopher. I pray that my husband will cherish and light up the way you do with Peggy. I pray that I can have a servants heart like yours.
What a joyful, joyful day it will be when we reunite in heaven; but until then, I will miss you (and your sarcasm) forever.

Chris was the second classmate I met when I joined the Moses Brown freshman football team in the fall of 1969. Neither one of us was destined for the NFL! I remember Chris as an engaging, friendly guy who thoroughly enjoyed life and the Moses Brown School. My condolences to his family and friends. Chris will be missed.
Moses Brown Schhool '73
Please accept my condolences. He was a wonderful person and a caring doctor. He made you believe that everything was posible and no matter how dreadful, it was going to be allright. After 20 years of doctors, he was the first one to actually listen and allow me to be the decisive voice. I am very grateful to have met him. Once again accept my condolences and my prayers.
When I read the article, I was sad to hear that this great doctor and great man passed away. He seemed like a very nice man. My prayers and condolences go with you and to your family
We are praying for you and your family during these tragic times. The world has lost and outstanding person!!
God Bless You - Beth Bokal and family, Sharon & Donald Ridenour, Kathi and Ray Smith, D.J. Ridenour and Jennifer Vargas and Family.
I am so saddened at the lost of a great man! The opportunities I had to sit in his office and exam rooms I will forever hold dear. He talked with me about real problems, and he was very much a grounded man. I could discuss anything and he never sat in judgement or above me. We had such great discussions and not just about me but about real life. He made me feel welcomed, comfortable, and cared for. This man was taken way before his time, but because of his faith I know God has him in better hands. I loved his sense of humor and his ability to find a light in the dark places. I thank God for him, and my prayers and condolences go out to his family at this difficult time. You are truly going to be missed!
Dear Peggy, Chris Jr., and Sarah Beth,
Mary Kay, Marie and I want you to know we have been thinking of and praying for Chris and you since his accident.
We are still praying for your comfort and peace during this time of sorrow and loss. We know Chris lives on in heaven.
I was proud to have Chris as a colleague. He represented the best of our profession.
I was so sadden to hear that Dr. Powers had passed away. I had finally found a doctor that I was comfortable with and had a very caring attitude with his patients. He would care enough to ask how you were doing when you had an office visit, he also had a sense of humor. God bless his family and may they find comfort in the days ahead with all the good memories he left.
My prayers are with your family, a powerful, powerful testimony of a man living for the lord, PRAISE GOD.
I offer my prayers and condolences to Dr. Powers family. He had delivered my baby in February 23 of this year and I had seen him last in May. He was a wonderful doctor and most of all seemed like just a happy person. He made me comfortable and easy for me to talk to him, which many people know talking to doctors is far from comfortable. I still can't believe that this happened to such a man who radiated goodness and a simple joy to life. My heart goes out to his family.
Being new to El Paso, Dr. Powers was recommended to me by several people. He was so kind and wonderful, I felt lucky to have such a great doctor. He was a world-class physician and an extraordinary person. So sorry for your tremendous loss.
I am so sorry for your loss. I've never met a better person. He was a mentor for me. The world would be such a better place if we all imitated him. The world is a better place because he lived in it.
peggy chris and sara, what a beautiful memorial today !a true servant .may god bless you and yours. corban sends big hugs and love .
My condolences to Peggy, Christopher, & Sara Beth & the rest of the Powers family. I attended part of my residency with Chris at Texas Tech. He was my favorite Chief Resident & faculty. I will never forget all of the many things he taught me.. As well as many fond memories. I had to transfer out to California 1/2 way through & I wiil never forget his kind words on my last day at Texas Tech.Over the years I would run into him at CME conferences. He always exhibited grace, a beautiful heart, & a wonderful ability to make me laugh. He is a beautiful person inside & out & will be truly missed.
I am still in utter shock hearing about Dr Powers. My heart and prayers go out to his wonderful family during this difficult time. I had the honor of being his patient for my fourth pregnancy, and I am calling it a honor, because of the wonderful service I received from him. He was a wonderful doctor, and his knowledge was never ending. He made my time their at his office a great experience, and he made me feel at ease during every visit. I remember when it got close to my due date, he told me... I am going out of town, so keep that boy in there, because I want to be there when you deliver, I am very curious to see what this little one looks like. Sure enough I went into labor when he was on vacation, however to my surprise there he was scrubbing up to deliver my son. Best experience ever. Today El Paso lost a great doctor, but more importantly his family lost a wonderful father, and husband. Once again my condolences to the Powers family, may your family turn to God during this difficult time, and let him bless and give you strength at this time. Dr. Powers I wish I could have thanked you more for your hard work, dedication, and for taking care of me during my pregnancy. Thank you! May you rest in peace, may your memories remain, and may your family find peace in their hearts soon!
My condolences and deepest sympathy to the Powers Family.
Dr. Powers was one in a million, intelligent, professional and above all so compassionate.
I am very grateful to have known and to have worked with him during his years at Texas Tech.
He will be truly missed.
I will never forget the wonderful advice Dr. Powers offered and the care he gave to my family during my pregnancy. My Daughter, Rileyn Stewart, was born June 8th and when he came to deliver her he stated, "This baby ruined my bday luncheon."=) He always had a way to make me smile when I was nervous. You will be greatly missed. My condolences go out to his family and staff.
Dr.Chris Powers' sensitivity of the heart in his genuine kindness and gentle care of his patients inspired us and reflected to the world his close relationship and love of our Lord. We celebrate Chris Powers' life. Dear Powers Family, we share your loss and pray & trust in God to give you comfort & strength.

My condolences to the powers family. I had the privilege of knowing Chis since medical school and admired his dedication to the medical profession ever since then. May God bless you and your family and give you strength in this difficult time. My prayers are with you.
Dr. Powers, I still get embarrassed and laugh when I think about the day I barged into your office crying because I found out I was pregnant at 43 years old. You smiled and said as you hugged me, "Calm down, relax. That's why God gives you nine months to get used to the idea! Everything is going to be just fine." You were right...and nine months later you delivered the most amazing and beautiful blessing... Thank you for your wisdom, kindness, and love for my Jesse Lynne. Your light shines bright in her eyes :)
On behalf of the El Paso Baptist Clinic we send our deepest sympathies to the Powers family. You are in our prayers. Dr. Powers treated our patients with respect and kindness. Our clinic has suffered a great loss. We will miss him.

My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead.
Dear Peggy, Christopher, Sara Beth, and Mrs. Powers, I send my deepest condolences and prayers that you can find peace and understanding in the face of the tragic loss of Chris. The entries here are a testament to the great life Chris led. I am most familiar with a different part of CJP's life--his law school life and adventure travels before Peggy met Chris. My first travel with Chris was in 1982 rafting the remote Tatshenshini River in Alaska, which was followed by an even more adventurous 4-month around-the-world trip with Chris, Jim Bassett, and Bill Redd, all of us grads of UVa Law School. Whether climbing Mt. Kenya and Mt. Kilimanjaro, camping in the wilds of the Serengeti, jogging the streets of Nairobi, hiking the trails of Nepal, observing Hindu custom on the banks of the Varanasi River in India, or plying the streets of Bangkok, Chris was an exceptional travel companion. (He also turned the head of every woman, which was a blessing to the rest of us not having his good looks and charm.) His persistence (he seemed to enjoy doing a 100 sit-ups and push ups before embarking on a run), his jocular humor, his consistent kindness and caring, and his intellectual depth was ever present. That he has been taken so soon causes a rain of tears. It was an honor to know Chris. He told me in Africa he wanted to leave earth a better place, and he has done that in his acts, family, and friends. What one has loved will never be lost because it becomes part of us. Chris will live in the lives of those he met. Thank you Chris for entering my life. You were a great friend I will NEVER forget. Erik Rasmussen, UVa Law '81,

In God's kingdom, there never was a more humble, compassionate or caring man. I had the privilege of working with Dr. Powers, as an RN, at UMC. He also delivered my first and second grandbabies. Heaven now holds your beloved. I weep with you, dear family. My prayers are that you will be comforted in the coming months and years by God's tender love and that the memories you have of your wonderful dad and husband will sustain you in the most difficult times. He was someone who always had something witty to say and always seemed to make me laugh. Prayers going out to his family.
I am not very good at this but felt like I had to mention that he really will be missed, he was truly a great person and a good memory I will forever have of my time working in El Paso.

I had not seen Christopher since the Lubbock days, but I knew he was out there, living out his dream as an ob-gyn. He was such an inspiration, giving up a successful law practice to endure the long years of medical school and residency. Peggy and family, I consider it an honor to have known him, and I am so sorry for your loss.
Doctor Powers was a wonderful man and it is clear by reading all of these entries that he touched so many peoples lives. He will be sorely missed, my condolences.
Greatly saddened to hear of this, a terrible, inexplicable tragedy to befall an intelligent and deeply textured man. I wish his family all of the best and will always think the best of him.
I was very sorry to learn of this news about Chris. I attended Lincoln School while Chris was at Moses Brown. We will all miss Chris. I remember then that he had the highest of standards and was a good friend to all of us.

As far back as law school Chris exhibited many of the wonderful virtues expressed throughout this Guest Book. He truly was special - even then - always thoughtful, caring, polite, intelligent and humble. The world sadly has lost an exceptional human being, and my heart goes out to his loved ones and his community.
Dr. Powers respectful and smart man. Always had an answer to my questions. I wil have him and family in my prayers. RIP
Life, so full of Joy and Sadness. I prayed with my family and friends for a miracle. I am deeply saddened because Dr. Powers brought life into this world including my son Luke, niece Elyse and just born nephew Noah. His hands and passion for his work were a blessing to many of us. He touched our life's from the moment we meet him continued at 9 months and after while we were learning to breastfeed which he so encouraged it. Lord please watch over his family and let their hearts heal in time. May God bless the Power family.

Our deepest condolences to the Powers family. I was very sad to hear the news that Dr. Powers was in a serious accident, but when I heard of his death no words could describe how I felt. Dr. Powers was my doctor for the past 8 months and was going to deliver my baby in July. I can't put into words what a beautiful man he was. This will be our first child and Dr. Powers would always put my husband and I at ease. He was extremely gracious, intellegent, professional, kind and absolutely the best doctor I have ever had. As soon as he would enter the room his light would shine with his beaming eyes and smile. There was a radiance about him... He will be greatly missed. We are extremely grateful for the care he gave us. May God give Mrs. Powers and her family strength during this very difficult time. There is now a beautiful angel in the heavens.

It is always so hard to find just the right words to say at times such as this when you have placed your trust in our Heavenly Father and released Chris from your loving arms into the loving arms of the Father. I thank God that our paths crossed at Tech when I worked there and to have known him just a little was my blessing. I pray God's comfort on each of you in his family as you grieve his loss.

My deepest condolences to the Powers family. I had the great priviledge to work with him at Rio Grande Ob/Gyn. I learned so much from him and I will surely miss him. He was just a wonderful caring person that will be missed by everyone RIP Dr.
My deepest condolences. Dr. Powers was not only a great doctor, but the most caring, compassionate human being that I have ever met. I will miss him greatly.
Rest in Peace and Thank you Dr. Powers.
May the lord give your family peace and comfort knowing that they stood by your side till the end.
Dr. Powers was recommended to me by a friend when we first moved to El Paso. After meeting him, I was instantly impressed with his caring nature and desire to help his patients. It is clear that Dr. Powers kind spirit was a blessing to so many, including me, and he will be greatly missed. Praying for peace for the family during this difficult time.
My condolences to the Powers Family. Dr. Powers was an extrodinary man - his compassion as a doctor as well as his knowledge and humility was rare to see in such a gifted man. Every time he would enter the room his light would shine so bright - with his beautiful and warm smile that will be deerly missed. Dr. Powers was a gift from God that the El Paso Community had and it is such a tragic loss that he is no longer with us, but there is a beautiful spirit and angel in the heavens now.... Mrs. Powers - I pray that God give you the strength and bless you each and every day along with your beautiful children and family. May God bless you all. We all love you Dr. Powers and THANK YOU for all that you did! I cannot express what a beautiful person you were - still not real that you have passed, but your light will continue to shine.
My Dearest Powers Family,
I met Dr Powers back on 10/2009 at Medical Billing Unlimited, I was so scared to work with him because he was too nice. Somehow he molded me to get used to his kindness which made everything much easier. Dr. Powers was amazing! I will always keep him in my heart as that great man who taught me to be kind and thank god at the begining and end of the day.
My deepest condolences. Dr. Powers will be greatly missed. Great blessing to have met Dr. Powers.
My condolences to the Powers family. My heart goes out to you all. I had the pleasure of working with Dr Powers at PMH L&D...he was a great doctor and loved to teach his patients along with the staff. I remember his encouraging words when I decided to leave my comfort at PMH and move to Albuquerque. I still remember his words as if it were yesterday...he said to me "Erica, you're gonna love it. Don't listen to anyone who tells you that you will hate it. It's a different kind of medicine up there and you will enjoy it." Those words were so comforting to me at that time and that's who Dr Powers was...a comforting man that spoke from his heart. The world has lost an extraordinary physician. He will be greatly missed.
Please accept my most heartfelt sympathy for your loss…my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Dr. Powers was a great person that will be greatly missed and always remembered.
I worked with Dr. Powers, I was his M.A. I loved and will always love him, I saw him as my own Dad!! He protected me in so many ways. Was a great boss, a great doctor and A GREAT FRIEND!! I WILL MISS YOU DR. Will always have you in my heart, all those great memories together...
Peggy and family, My heart goes out to you. I have prayed every day for his recovery. He was such a great physician to work with and inspiring to be around. I remember him as a resident and then as a leader and mentor training all the new interns and residents to become better physicians. He always had a smile and made his patients feel his warmth and concern. He inspired me to become a better nurse and to always be compassionate and patient with individuals in my care. He will be truly missed.
Dear Peggy and family, I'm so sorry for your loss, you are in my prayers. May our heavenly father guide you through this difficult time.
Dr. Powers delivered my dear daughter 6 years ago tomorrow. The first time I met him, he spent over an hour with me listening to my story of my first delivery. I knew right then and there that I wanted him to care for me during my pregnancy and delivery my baby. He respected my wishes to try for a v-bac when no other doctor would. He took great care. He ended up delivery my baby via c-section. I remember throwing up right after the delivery. Rather than having the nurse clean me up, he did it himself. He was so kind, so professional, so good at his job. It was through his care that I was able to heal and let go of the trauma from my first birth. I will forever be grateful for his life, his care, and his talent. I hope our souls meet again some day. Much love. May the pure light within him guide him on his way. With gratitude, Andrea Danneker
I first met Dr Powers when I started my residency at Texas Tech. He was my Chief Resident, the nicest, kindest human being is how I best remember him. Compassionate, helpful and always a gentleman with a great sense of humor. He will truly be missed. My deepest condolences to the family.
Dr. Powers you were an amazing example of a human being. I had the privilege of knowing you as a patient and you were truly the best doctor I ever had. As soon as I found out I was pregnant with my first child a few months ago, I found comfort in knowing my first baby would be born under your care. You have touched many lives and you will live on through all of those wonderful memories of you that each of us carries in our hearts. I have faith that you are watching over all of us from up above and have ascended from being a guardian angel on Earth to one in heaven. My prayers are with all of your loved ones and all those who love you that have an emptiness from their loss. May that emptiness be filled with faith and peace in knowing you are now in a better place.
Dr. Powers was an amazing human being. He was such a wonderful man, one of a kind. He treated me since 2009 and my son was born May 2011 but Dr. Powers couldn't deliver me because he was out of town and it made me really sad. He met my son once and last Monday I wanted to stop by his clinic to say hi but didn't know about the accident. I feel so sad and heartbroken, I wish I would've said my last goodbye to him. Such an amazing doctor and so caring about his patients. My husband says he was a beautiful man. We love him so much and will miss him forever.
I send my heartfelt condolences to Dr. Powers' family. I first met Chris at Texas Tech in 2004 when we were classmates in a faculty development course. He more recently helped deliver my youngest daughter, Georgia, in 2010 in an emergency C-S. My last conversation with him was only 2 months ago when I sought his advice on opening my own practice. Every time I look at Georgia or at my new office, I will remember him. He will be missed.
I can only imagine the depths of your loss. Dr. Powers was my elderly mother's gynecologist in the last years of her life. As a nurse and the patient's daughter I trully admired him for his integrity and servanthood attitude. We trusted him to only do what was necessary. His bedside manner made my mother feel safe and made her smile. I feel so saddened that such a model physician was lost. I pray that God's master plan will become evident to comfort his family and friends.
Dr. Powers was truly one of a kind. He had a special way of making whomever he was speaking to feel important. I will never forget how wonderful he made my husband and I feel and how with a look into his eyes even the scariest moments could seem so calm. The world has lost an amazing man whose memory will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Dr. powers my prayers are with everyone feeling his loss.
My deepest condolences to his wife and family. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Powers at UMC as I was the childbirth educator he would send his patients to. He was a great advocate for Moms, babies and those who served this population. I ran into him with his wife at the airport and he greeted me with a big smile and introduced me to his wife as a "great" educator. He always strived to make everyone around him feel special. He will be missed forever.
Dr. Powers was a rare person who genuinely loved people and truly had a servants heart. The Lord greatly blessed him, but he used his God given talents for blessing others. This is truly a devastating loss. May the Lord comfort your family during this difficult time and in the recovery process. We shall never forget the kind, loving gentleman he has.
I am very heart broken by the loss of Dr. Powers. I had the privilage of working with this amazing man in Labor and Delivery at Las Palmas. I know I speak for all of us when I say that he will forever be one of our favorite doctors. His smile will never be forgotten. I admire this man very much! He taught us all soo much. I hope he knew how much we all respected him and loved him! May God bless his family through this difficult time.

My deepest sympathies to the Powers family. I knew Chris from law school at UVA and followed his career through mutual friends and classmates. I always admired his humility, intelligence and dedication to helping other people.
My deepest condolences to The Powers family during this difficult time. I had the pleasure of working with Dr.Powers, he was a very humble man with the most beautiful bedside manners for his patients and staff. The memory I have of Dr. Powers and will remember him always is when he would stop to talk to the staff and Dr.'s and we would be laughing after a morning or evening shift. Dr. Powers would say "Ok good-bye everyone, you have a great day" and he would always say this with his beautiful smile and his beautiful twinkling blue eyes and he would walk down the hallway with his confident walk. You will deeply missed by many in the medical community Dr.Powers but your memory will live on through your family & friends. May you rest in peace Dr.Powers & May God help your family & friends through this difficult time.
My deepest sympathy to the Powers family. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Powers at Texas Tech in the OB/GYN dept. He was the kindest person you could ever meet. He had a gentle demeanor, great sense of humor and was such a caring human being and doctor. He will be greatly missed by the medical community. May God blessings be with the Powers family at this difficult time and always.
i knew chris while he was at kemp smith. he worked with me on several issues at the company i worked for at the time. he was always smiling, caring, and he taught me a lot about labor law. when he decided to become a doctor i was surprised but he explained to me he felt he could help people more this way. i am thinking of him at his best right now. thank you chris.
Dr. Powers was my doctor and he was amazing. We lost a wonderful doctor and truly wonderful human being. He was a truly compassionate, caring and sensitive doctor. My prayers for his entire family. Marisela Santiago
We mourn this loss with you, but rejoice in the celebration of the life he lived while here on Earth. His kind and gentle spirit is so evident by the memories he gave everyone to hold on to. Every time I stare into 6-month old Elliana's little eyes, I know she is here because of his skilled and loving care for her and myself throughout my pregnancy and delivery. Our hearts are heavy. God bless you!
Dr. Powers, Chris, was a friend, colleague and mentor. I learned from him, and was inspired by is life. My prayers are with Peggy, Christoper and Sara Beth, as well as the rest of his family and friends. I rode my bike in his honor the sunday after his accident. He helped renew my love of cycling and my quest for fulfillment in life. He was a friend to my family. Kathy, Silvestre, and Veronica

God Bless You,
Rosie, Lauren and Sean Martinez
It was on June 11, 2010 when I met Dr. Powers at Providence Memorial Hospital where he was the doctor on call. I was having complications with my pregnancy of 30 weeks and had been admitted. From the moment I walked in he was very attentive & tried his absolute best to comfort me & care for my baby & I. My daughter had to be delivered under emergency circumstances & because of his quick response both of us are here today. I was very blessed to have him & my primary doctor, Dr. Brandle, care for me as they fought extremely hard to make sure I was taken care of as my life was now in danger as well as my daughters. I will forever be grateful to him, Dr. Brandle & the NICU team who cared for both of us.
On behalf of my family & I it is with our extreme heartfelt sympathy on the loss of a great man. He was surely a treasure in the El Paso Community that will be missed terribly. May God's loving hands comfort you all during this very difficult time.

Dear Peggy and family: I was honored to attend yours and Chris' wedding when I was about 14 years old. I thought Chris was just about the most handsome man I'd ever seen! And beautiful Peggy? Wow, just a fairy tale wedding if there ever was one. I moved away from El Paso, came back, left, etc., but always kept up on the most recent accolades for Dr. Powers in the paper--and there always seemed to be one--and was floored by his ability to take on so many roles in life. The entries in this guest book testify to the influence Chris Powers has had on the lives of so many people. He lives on in our hearts.
I have been praying since the accident and will continue to pray. His love of life and his willingness to stand up for what is right and good and just was universally respected. He is one of those people who touches everyone in some way and so leaves such a large hole that everyone around him must draw together for support and strength. I was so fortunate to work with him as a doula and lactation consultant and have him as my doctor for two babies.
May God hold you, his family, in the palm of his hand and comfort you in your grief.
Dr. Powers you will be greatly missed. Our condolences go out to the family.

Our condolences goes out to the Powers family. I didn't know him personally but my father was in ICU at same time as Dr Powers and I must say when we felt like giving up we would look at his family and they would give us strength just by knowing how close they have god beside them. To the Powers Family: Chris was known at the University of Virginia Law School for his sunny smile and cheerful disposition. Very soft-spoken, but simply a joy to be around. On behalf of myself, and all of Chris's classmates from the UVa Law Class of 1982, we thank you for sharing him with us. May your family find peace from within in the days to come.
LuAnn Mitchell, Esq. UVa Law 82"
This is such a tragic loss. I know Chris from a different path than perhaps many of those who are signing this guest book --- Chris and I went to law school at the University of Virginia together! He once acted the part of my client/defendant in a trial practice class! Chris was beloved and respected by all of us at UVa -- the world is darker without Chris' sunny smile to light it up. Suzanne Israel Tufts, Forest Hills, New York
The University Medical Center/Texas Tech family is deeply saddened by the death of our friend and colleague, Dr. Chris Powers. Like his family, friends and patients, we were devastated by the news that he had been severely injured while doing one of the things that made him feel so alive.
HIs arrival at our Level I Trauma Center mobilized an army of care givers, each of whom worked around-the- clock to give this extraordinary man a chance at survival. But our best efforts weren't enough.
There is a deep sense of loss on our campus. Chris was a respected member of our Medical Staff, an exceptionally talented physician, an unequaled mentor to countless medical students and residents and simply a joy to be around.
On behalf of everyone at UMC and Texas Tech, our deepest condolences to Dr. Powers' wife and children, his innumerable friends, his many colleagues and the patients whose lives he toughed and enriched. Rest in peace, Chris. We will miss you more than we can say, as will the generations of El Pasoans you brought into this world.

Me and my daughter were both patients of Dr. Powers and I am also an employee at UMC, where I had the fortune of sharing his company while he practiced there. I will never forget his wonderful bed manners and his professionalism. But most of all, I will never forget how he helped me and my daughter and was kind enough to offer us his personal cell phone number in case we needed his professional assistance.
