We love and will miss you always, Uncle Kevin!
May 17, 2012
I first met Kevin in 1975, Marshalltown, Iowa, the 16" National softball tournament. It was Danans vs the Strikers, the defending champs. I can remember as if it was yesterday, Kevin was playing centerfield, we were down by a run and we had two men on base. I hit the ball over Kevin's head, all of us scored and we had defeated the defending champs. But...
The past 4 years, my daughter and I traveled to Arizona to watch the Sox train. Every year, I'll find Kevin and yell to him.. "Kevin. 1975, Marshalltown, Iowa!" His big smile and a thumbs-up always had us laughing. Next year, I will miss Kevin. Although, we are not mutual friends, I feel that he is a friend to me.
RIP, Kevin. Our Sox world has lost a great individual, gone, but never forgotten.

Our deepest sympathy to the Hickey family. It came as a shock when we first heard of his passing. He will be deeply missed by all those who came in contact with him.Family, relatives, friends and just baseball fans.I had the honor of knowing Kevin for more than thirty years. The Bob Cats, trying out for the Sox(and making the team),his first game with a busload of guys from the BPAA,our club, the turkey bowl and I could go on and on.One of my favorites was when I went with him to Palermos pizza where he signed autographs and passed out pictures.I felt like a big shot.I hope the family is still in possesion of the 2'x3' picture my son Peter took at camera day at old Sox park.May you have some comfort in knowing that Kev was loved by all.He led a full life and I guess God wanted him closer to Him. Rest in peace Kev.
