MARY JOYCE MOSS SMITH JULY 20, 1931 - MAY 31, 2014 Mary Joyce Moss Smith was promoted to glory on May 31, 2014 after a life of service in The Salvation Army. She was born to Paul William and Ruth Shaw Moss on July 20, 1931 in Tulsa, OK. The family moved to El Paso in 1939 where Mary began attending Sunday school at The Salvation Army which resulted in a life of service in the church and the community. She was named Salvation Army Woman of the Year for the Western Territory in 1970. She provided services for the youth leading them to Christ and she was active in the church and choir. While attending choir she earned her tittle for Bandsman and Band Secretary. She also visited nursing homes to cheer the elderly. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, George Y. Smith, her parents and her daughter, Gina Montez. She is survived by her daughter, Lynette Smith; grandson, Adam Maldonado; granddaughter, Regina Montez; (sisters, Beverly Landry and Donna Heim and nephew Joe Heim; brother, Bill Moss and wife Barbara, Paula Moss, Mike, Tilly and Mark Moss). Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Salvation Army Citadel, 4900 Hercules at Diana Dr. Graveside service will be held Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
