My condolences to David's family. David and Carol were my good friends and we frequently saw each other while they resided on Hallandale Florida. In 2000, we cooperated in several articles about ADM and Elian's fate. The last time we spoke I found him in good spirits, he was amazing.
I will always cherish our friendship and will always miss his voice, his lively conversation and his joy of living.

David and I corresponded back in 2015 when I was beginning to research my family history. He sent me documents and information that was vital to my search.
I was attempting to reach him this morning, and learned of his passing.
My sympathy goes to your family.

To the Hoech family;
I served in the Navy with David. We new him as Hocheck, and he was a fun loving guy and full of the devil. After 50 years he surprised me with a phone call at my home, asking my son if his Dad knew a guy named Hocheck. What a surprise. When I spoke with him last we discussed a visit when I made a road trip to the Mid West. I am on that trip, and found his obituary while looking for his phone number online, since I had forgotten it at home. I knew he was not feeling the best, but was not expecting to hear of his passing.
My heartfelt condolences to all, and I am sorry we did not get to renew an old friendship. Anchors aweigh, Hocheck
