Helen D. Holland, nee Williams, 92, Union, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, in Creve Coeur.
Helen was born May 29, 1923, in Union, the daughter of Wilbur Williams and wife Gertrude, nee Crider. Helen graduated from Union High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Donald Holland Sept. 28, 1940, in St. Louis. They made their home in Union, and two daughters were born to this marriage. Helen worked at Brown Shoe Factory and worked until retirement in 1988 at Ben Franklin Variety Store, Union, for 30+ years. She enjoyed reading, volunteering at the Union Food Bank, embroidery work, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Helen was a very active lifelong member of Church of the Nazarene, Union.
Helen is survived by three grandchildren, Jonathan Gerling and wife Terri, Vici, Okla., Letha Misener, Rosebud, and Lila Bliss, Union; nine great-grandchildren, Heather, Matthew, Timothy, Chester, Tina, Silas, Simon, Crista and Tanya; eight great-great-grandchildren, Tell, Bessie, Evie, Warren, Karl, Isaac, Jackson and Truman; two sons-in-law, Edward Gerling and Ed Davis, both of New Haven; two sisters, Patsy Walls and husband Ron, Union, and Judy Williams, Festus; one brother, Jerome "Baldy" Williams, Union; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Holland; two daughters, Donna Davis and Beverly Gerling; one great-granddaughter, Vickie Bliss; and her parents.
A funeral service was held Thursday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. at Church of the Nazarene, Union, with Pastor Tim Cole officiating.
Burial followed in Midlawn Cemetery, Union.
Memorials may be given to Church of the Nazarene, Union.
The Holland family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
