Ilah Marie Allen, 93, Troy, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at Troy Manor Nursing Home.
She was born March 13, 1920, in Denver, Colo., daughter of the late Walter G. Schaper and wife Florence, nee Schwarze. Ilah Marie was united in marriage to John N. Allen April 5, 1942, at Sacred Heart Rectory, Troy. He preceded her in death May 8, 1988. To this union three children were born.
Ilah Marie graduated from Buchanan High in 1938. She was employed at the family business, Schaper Motors, and then Weinand Brothers and Weinand Younger. Ilah Marie was a lifelong member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.
Ilah Marie traveled to almost every state and several different countries. She was a member of and held various offices in the Bernice Withrow Club, Monday Morning Madams Bible Study, Methodist WSCS, St. Stephen United Methodist Church, American Bible Society, LCCOA and Bread For Life Food Pantry. Ilah Marie was instrumental in the construction of both the LCCOA and Bread For Life Food Pantry new facilities.
She is survived by her children, Betty Konecne, Boulder, Colo., Shirley Brown, Eolia, and Nick Allen, Troy; one sister, Shirley Montgomery, Troy; four grandchildren, Angie Smith (Doug), Karla Konecne, Michele Noah (Brad) and Kim Leake (Paul); eight great-grandchildren, Kyle and Bo Smith, Dylan, Brayden, Calleigh and Ashlyn Noah, Evan and Erin Leake; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
Ilah Marie was preceded in death by her husband, John Allen; parents, Walter and Florence Schaper; two sons-in-law, Keith Konecne and Gene Brown; and one brother-in-law, Dallas Montgomery.
Friends were received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, at Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Home, Troy Chapel.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at St. Stephen United Methodist Church.
Private family interment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Officiating the service was Pastor Steve Pinnell.
