Leo Franklin Reed Jr., known to most as "Frankie," 69, St. Clair, departed this life at his home Tuesday, June 14, 2016.
Frankie was born in St. Louis Sept. 2, 1946, the son of Leo Franklin Reed Sr. and wife Carlene Ruby, nee Frost.
He was a Christian and past member of First Baptist Church, St. Clair. During Frankie's working career, he was employed by Daimler-Chrysler Corporation, Fenton, retiring after 32 years of service. Frankie also was a proud 32-year member of the United Auto Workers Local 110, St. Louis. Shortly after his retirement, Frankie worked hanging dry wall and painting. He also was a past member of the St. Clair Elks Lodge 2651, as well as the Sons of the American Legion. Frankie was mechanically inclined and loved to tinker with things that had motors. He was especially fond of his 1987 Grand National Buick, as well as his 2005 black Chevrolet Silverado. Frankie enjoyed boating, going to drag races, bowling, and in his younger years he loved to ride motorcycles. Frankie was a kindhearted person who was always willing to help others. The love he shared with his family and friends has given them many memories to treasure.
Frankie is survived by two sisters, Carol Kimball, Harker Heights, Texas, and Nancy Redhage and husband David, Washington; three nephews, Chuck Neely Jr. and wife Karen, Tim Neely and girlfriend Katina Kakadiarias, all of Washington, and Ben Burton, Harker Heights, Texas; cousins; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Carlene Reed, and one brother-in-law, Bud Kimball.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union, with the Rev. Duane Banderman officiating.
Memorials may be made to the St. Clair Elks Lodge 2651 or American Legion Post 347.
