Eleanor Louise Buschmeyer, nee Rath, 93, Washington, passed away Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at Mercy Hospital Washington.
Eleanor, daughter of the late Richard Rath and wife Alma, nee Brunner, was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Hermann. She was baptized, confirmed and later married to the late Allen Buschmeyer May 29, 1948, at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Hermann. After moving to Washington, she became active at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, where she loved to share her love of baking at the church bake sales. She was affectionately termed, the "Cookie Lady,"^ for her excellent gingerbread men, lebkuchen and springerle cookies. She also was an excellent seamstress, often creating beautiful dresses for friends' and family members'^weddings and special events. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, gardening and crocheting.
Eleanor is survived by two children, Daniel Buschmeyer, St. Louis, and Kathleen Blackburn, Columbia, one granddaughter, Katrina Blackburn, Chicago, Ill.; many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepfather, Paul Szidat; two sisters, Margaret Fricke and husband Virgil, and Linda Scheible and husband Elmer; one son-in-law, Michael D. Blackburn, M.D.; two brothers-in-law, Edwin Buschmeyer and wife Mildred, and John Buschmeyer and wife Fern; and one sister-in-law, Marcella Buschmeyer
Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Washington.
Interment was at Oak Haven Cemetery, Hermann.
Memorial donations are appreciated to St. Peter's United Church of Christ Atrium Fund or St. Peter's Food Pantry.
Arrangements were in care of Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
