You have meant so much to the University, alumni and friends. You are already missed.
My husband and I went and visited Mal's grave today. We marveled at all the red roses arranged so lovingly around his grave. To his fine and wonderful family , we are praying for peace to comfort all of you. Mal was a fine man who loved his family and the University of Alabama. Before we left, I looked up and spoke to Heaven and said ,"We all love you and will always have a special place in our Crimson Hearts for you!" Say hello to the Bear for us!

You have been such a great ambassador for the University as a student player, coach and athletic director. A truly great person and friend. You will be greatly missed. It has been a pleasure to call you my friend and will never forget you. Rest in peace.
Heather, we will always treasure the memories we have of you and your mom and dad at Arcadia Elementary! They were instrumental in air-conditioning the school when we parents had to do everything we could to make our schools as comfortable as possible for our kids. Our family fun nights were special as we devoted our all into it. Charlotte was an inspiration to all of us as she devoted her love and affection to her only daughter and inspired all of us to work for the BEST we could possibly give. Mal, unselfishly, gave his time to our small community to achieve the needs Aracadia needed and worked with us to achieve that. His family came first but he was always willing to help others at any time. Our son, Scott Fikes, has so many special memories of Arcadia that he mentioned recently that he would love to have a reunion of Arcadia classmates. Maybe we can do that yet. I just did my 50th highschool reunion and we have memories we will never forget! Love you Heather, Pat Fikes 205-553-1854 email@example.com
I will miss Mal as a friend and former teammate. The U of A is a better plkace because of him. It was a beautiful and meanungful service as he deserved. Fred Sington Jr.

Mal gave my boys and I an impromtu tour of Bryant Hall while he was a coach. He couldn't have been any nicer. His heart was as great as his wisdom of managing people. There will never be another like him.
The University of Alabama and the State has truly lost a true man of God. He touched so many lives on and of the field. Although he will missed and we all grieve the loss, remember Coach Moore and all of the good things that he has done. Although the loss hurts, this is what grieving truly is. He is now at home and at peace.
How great it must have been for Coach Moore to hear his wife speak his name once more. You will be greatly missed Coach.

If you didn't have the pleasure of knowing Mal personally; you missed what it was like knowing a First Class Individual!! He did so many deeds/favors for me and my family; plus people we don't even know, which were very small on his larger and greater agenda; however he did these with as much caring and love as he did everything else in life...he will always be one of my favorite people that has lived on this earth...Look forward to re-uniting with him some future day in Heaven.
God's Blessings to entire family...

The family of Frank "Pig" House, Jr., former Chairman and Director of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. May they all celebrate together in a greater Hall! God Bless.
My most vivid memory of MAL was , as a grade school child, sitting on his feet in his backyard ,while he did sit-ups during his football days at Dozier High.GOD BLESS.
Mal was a wonderful neighbor and I miss him already. I remember hearing his music in the backyard while he relaxed or did yard work in the backyard. He once rescued my chain saw I got stuck sawing a limb off a tree in the backyard. He chuckled as he managed to remove the saw and I'm sure hoped I didn't try using it again! Nothing but a sweet kind gentleman....I am still looking for him in the backyard and it makes me very sad knowing he is not there. My thoughts and prayers are with Heather and the family - may their good memories sustain them through their grief.
We both loved your dad dearly. We can only echo the wonderful comments about him. Dee spent many days for many years working with Mal at Alabama and treasures their time spent together. His devotion to your mom was wonderful. We still smile when we think of his story-telling--he was the best! God bless you and your family,
Dee & Diane Powell

WHAT A MAN. ONE OF A KIND AND HEAVEN BOUND.
Words seem meaningless at this point. What can you say about a man that thought so much of others, that really cared for his school, was a great family man. The man that brought me to the Capstone to play football and get an education. Coach Moore I wish to only be half the man that you have been. Strength to his family at this time and may God hold on to you.

Rest In Peace Coach,
My memories of Coach Mal are many. He taught a very dignified approach to football and life. He loaned me his golf clubs one A-Club tourney when I left mine in Mobile. He showed a down-to-earth friendship that he never lost. I spent one or two periods each day during my senior season snapping for Jeff or Steadman and I learned a lot from Coach Mal during that year. I'll miss him and his steadfast support of the University. It's still very hard to believe.
Thanks for all you done for the University of Alabama and the Tuscaloosa community, you are truly going to be missed, Rest in Peace
Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.

We will miss Mal's class and abilities as a player, coach, and administrator. we decided to visit the campus for the first time in a while. Mal made the trip outstanding, and we talked about many things past and future. Most important to tell Mal what a great job he has done for Alabama. Coach Bryant would be proud as we all are. A friend since my playing days and always doing his best for the University of Alabama and all of us that played there.
Roll Tide Mal.
Oftentimes , the term, "good man" is used to describe people who were tough, yet kind--men who always did more than was expected and left more than they took.
Over the past few days, a lot of people have asked me about my friend, Mal Moore. My response has always been the same. He was a good man, a kind, gentle soul who you could count on to do the right thing ... no matter what.
The contributions Mal made to the university are too numerous to mention in this shore note. The contributions to the world could fill volumes.
We will miss you, my friend. You fought the good fight.
E. Gaylon McCollough, Gulf Shores, AL
With Sympathy...May God comfort the Moore family during this time of mourning.
The entire Alabama Family stand tall with you today Heather, and your family are in our prayers. Margaret and I both loved Mal, your dad, and we too will miss his smile. He deserved all the rewards this past year of being the best of the best, for being himself, and caring for a lot of others. His greatness is yet to come and I am pleased to say that he was a friend, a team mate, a mentor and one that shared the ups and downs of life. Again we all share a little of Mal with you the family. God Bless all of you today and in the days to come. c u soon, Big T, Tommy Brooker #81 in 1961. p.s. Thank you for sharing him with the rest of us.
As I grew up an Alabama Fan, Mal Moore was always the name that demonstrated "CLASS". He even sent me a letter in High School and offered a Football walkon tryout and apologized for not being able to make a Scholarship offer. He is with his Beloved Wife now and will be deeply missed by the Alabama Family.
Although I did not know Mal and he did not know me, Mal Moore was a year ahead of me at the University of Alabama. I observed him as a football player, a coach, and as athletic director. My wife and I send our condolences to his family and friends in their time of grief.

My heart goes out to the Moore family. Mal was a champion of his own making. He developed champions, and brought champions to the University of Alabama. I have watched the press conference of Mal intoducing Coach Saban as the head coach of Alabama football numerous times. Mal's Southern gentleman's voice and his love for the University shined through that day and all the days before and after. Thanks for what you have done for the University of Alabama. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
I had the pleasant expeience of meeting Mr Moore in Warner Robins Ga. in 1976. We spoke about Alabama recruiting. We picked him up in Macon, Ga. Drove him to Warner Robins & returned him to Macon. He touched me as a gentle, bright & caring gentleman. I was a yankee from NY & became a "Tide"fan that day forward. God Bless Mr Moore & his family at this sad time.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
The first time I met Coach Moore was in New Orleans when my wife was on a student recruiting trip for the College of Engineering in the mid '90s. I had gone along so we could take a short vacation at the conclusion of the weekend. Coach Moore was an administrator in the athletic department at the time and was present simply to talk to prospective students about the athletic programs on campus. But in a room full of students who were only concerned about math and science instead of athletics, Coach Moore knew he and I were both a couple of 5th wheels. He finished speaking then graciously escorted me out to the porch where we spent a terrific evening of him telling me stories of Coach Bryant and Alabama while I told him stories of my law enforcement career. I have always treasured that moment and will always appreciate the dedication Coach Moore had to his wife, his family, his university, and to people everywhere. Rest In Peace Coach.
Good bye faithful servant. You have been a great person in life and have served ua in an exemplary fashion. Rest in peace. Amen
