Don and Joy,
I served with Eric in 2nd platoon Bravo Co. 1st Battalion 6th Marines. When I met Eric he was one of the "Salty" Lance Corporals in my platoon. Eric was one of those older Marines that would take us boots and really get to know us. He was a very hard working Marine. I will always remember my friendship with him. When I heard of his death, I called another Marine (Mike Luther) that also was in our platoon, and we made immediate arrangement to be at his funeral. We were there with you and your family. We both wanted to say something to you both but we had no idea what to say. It had not sank in that we lost our brother until at the Cemetary when taps was played that I looked to Mike and realized that we were both crying. He was really gone. To this day I have Eric's obituary hanging in my locker at work so that everyday I open it, I look at his pic and am reminded to carry on. Eric was and will always be a driving force in my day to day life. God bless you

To to family of Eric Terhune,
I never knew this man you loved so much and must ache without. I saw a tribute to him on the Enjoying The Small Things blog and was so moved. So while I never knew your Eric, please except my heartfelt sympathy for your family. I sob as I write this and look at the flag flying near by and am overcome with gratitude for the freedom I have because of service men and women just like Eric. I am a momma who never lets my children forgot our troops and their families in our prayers; teaches them to salute and honor the flag; to walk up to every soldier they see in our military town and say thank you. So from a mother in Utah who sleeps safe with her family because of soldiers like Eric ... I am deeply sorry for your loss and will keep you in my prayers. God bless.
