When I was 19 years old I spent six months at the Laakso residence.....(thats the way Eric allways , as I remembered answered the phone btw) I just now at the age of 46 said to my thirteen year old daughter, eighteen year old son and my husband that " maybe I could google" the family in Florida where I stayed as a nanny ... So I did, and sadly found out about Erics passing away!
I hope now that life is good to you all, Deb, Shane and Brent you all and Eric will of course allways be remembered ..

What a great person to be around, we spent many long hours watching Star Trek and studying minerals in lab, geology field camp. The list of stories I could tell about this thoughtful and extremely intelligent friend is very long. I know I speak for my family also since Eric made a few trips upstate Louisiana with me. There was our trip to Jamaica, after the '79 Super Bowl, each was a story in itself. He was and is always "Big Eric" I was very saddened and shocked to hear of his death. Debbie, it has been a long time since we met you but I remember saying a prayer for all of you when I heard and since reading these entries I am reminded again of how close Eric and were during our Tulane days. God bless you.

I ust found out about Eric's death. He was a teammate of mine in the 1974 Connecticut All star Nutmeg Bowl East Team. I remember him as a very nice guy off the field, but a tremendous competitor on it. This hurts my heart as I lost contact with him once he made it "big." My deepest sympothies to his wife and family.

I played football with Eric in high school at Killingly High. He played tackle beside me and I played guard. He was a wonderful teammate and we had a great season in his senior year. I worked out with him in the summers when he was at Tulane at the High School field - he became a star and I became a backup guard at UConn! Miss you aways Eric! Dave McCarthy, Scituate, Ma.

I am a HUGE DOLPHIN fan. When I heard ERIC was drafted by them,I was very happy for him.In 1981 I was training for a job in MIAMI,found out that the training camp was the next exit down. After work one day,I went there on my motorcycle, got in watching how amazing he was, well after practice I had a chance to talk with him.Well over a long talk the gates where locked to get out.He said no problem,I will lift it over the fence, but before he did ,the security guy came to unlock the gate.HE was bless with STRENGTH.I pray for the family to have STRENGTH like ERIC...jim dexter .DANIELSON,CT.

I first met Eric , and his future wife Debbie back in 1978 when I moved to Florida. I was wroking for Royal Business Machiness, and Debbie worked with me as well. One day we were talking about football and how I did not understand the basics of the game. That afternoon, Eric came to pick Debbie up for lunch, and I went too. We went to a local deli right by our office. Eric proceeded to gather several salt and pepper shakers from the tables that suurounded us. Within minutes he set up an immaginary playing field, and explained the downs, calls, and rules. Within minutes this game made so much sense to me. At present I love the game, and I would not miss a Miami Dolfins football game. Thank you Eric for the fond memories. My condolescences to the entire family
