Albert L. Streeper, age 86, of North East since 2003, and formerly of Burlington, Mass., passed away peacefully, after a lengthy illness, on Friday March 28, 2014, at Erickson's Heritage House.
He was born on February 24, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Albert and Anna Cameron Streeper.
After graduating high school, Al played Minor League Baseball until December 6, 1950, when he enlisted into the military.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army 7th Infantry Division as a CPL, and later attended Control Data Institute in Massachusetts.
He was formerly employed as a senior systems computer analysis for Houghton Mifflin Publishing in Burlington, Mass., for several years.
Al enjoyed golf, bridge, bowling, watching sports, and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George C. Streeper and a sister, Mary Matkowski.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Harriet Elizabeth MacIntosh Streeper, whom he married September 14, 1957; sons, David A. Streeper (Kristen) of North East and Dana E. Streeper (Diane) of Sandpoint, Idaho; grandchildren, Sarah E. Streeper and Emily C. Streeper of North East and Forrest Starritt and Caleb Starritt of Sandpoint, Idaho; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 S. Lake St., North East, on Thursday 7-9 and Friday 9:30 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Gregg Townsend. Private interment will be in North East Cemetery.
