Bernard Repasky Obituary

Bernard (Bernie) Repasky Bernard (Bernie) Repasky, age 56, of La Habra, Calif., died unexpectedly on October 3, 2009. Born April 26, 1953, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, he was the fourth son of the late Anthony and Clara Kraus Repasky of Cambridge Springs, Pa. Bernie was a loving husband, father, brother and son. He was married August 9, 1975, to the former Linda Heald. He is survived by his wife Linda, as well as their two sons, Drew, age 29, of Anaheim, Calif., and Daniel, age 26, of Irvine, Calif. Both have graduated college and work in Southern Calif. Bernie attended Cambridge Springs High School, and graduated from Gannon University with a Bachelors Degree, and Case Western Reserve University with a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. He moved to California in June, 1976 to take a job at Hughes Aircraft Company (now part of Raytheon Corp.) where he worked with distinction for 33 years, before retiring in 2009 at age 56. Bernie was awarded a patent for the invention of a "Linear array lateral motion compensation method". His work was dedicated to the defense of our nation. An avid private pilot, Bernie flew regularly out of Fullerton and Chino airports for over 30 years. He and Linda (also a pilot) kept their own plane in a hangar at Chino, Calif. Bernie enjoyed SCUBA diving, hiking and camping - often in remote locations. He also enjoyed motorcycle riding. Additionally, Bernie is survived by his five brothers, Albert Repasky and his wife, Pat, of Gibsonia, Pa; Robert Repasky, of Lorain, Ohio; Harold Repasky and his wife, Marnie, of Zelienople, Pa.; Kenneth Repasky and his wife, Cheryl, of Pine, Colo.; and William Repasky and his wife, Susan, of Fort Collins, Colo.; as well as many adoring nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cambridge Springs, Pa., on Saturday, October 31st, at 10:00 a.m., with Monsignor Lawrence Speice, pastor of the Church officiating. Anyone is invited to leave comments for the family at Bernie's online memorial website at . The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the National Park Service or (in Bernie's name) to a charity of one's choice. I just saw the devastatingly sad news in Gannon Magazine. This is difficult to believe. We were classmates at Gannon all throughout; we were good friends, studied and hung out together. Also didn't realize how close we lived - we're at Redondo Beach now. I have often thought of Bernie and now I'm so regretting not having made contact sooner. My father, Dr. Halit Kosar, our dean and teacher from Gannon, my husband Peter, also our classmate from Gannon and our family send our condolences and deepest sympathy to your family. I will always remember Bernie with his sharp mind, sweet sense of humor and mischievous smile.

Linda, I just learned about the tragidy. It is hard to imagine him passing away so fast & suddenly. I remember his smile, his flight to Catalina including the amazing view of circling whales from the plane... He was VERY good to me while working for him at Hughes. I will miss him...

Linda, see you on Nov 22.

Linda and family: I want you to know how shocked and saddened I was to hear about Bernie. One of his classmates, Deb Black, contacted me with the news. I too was a band mate and chorus mate of Bernie's. All these years I have felt regret over not contacting him to talk old times-now that chance is gone. I will remember our talks, his teaching me pinochle, his dry sense of humor and his baby blue eyes. I never doubted for a minute that he would succeed in life. God Bless you and your family. Bernie, I'll miss you.

Linda, Drew, and Danny you will always be our extended family always have and always will be. Bernie was my second dad through high school in band. Heck he got after me for doing something wrong just like I was his own kid. Dad will be missed thats for sure as many lives as he has touched. At least we know he has his wings and doing what he loved to do fly and i bet he is being a dare devil to with the tricks he liked to do in the plane he always talked about. Momma Linda just to let you know your adopted sister Diana Hughes still talks about you and thinks about you get ahold of Shawnee and get her number I know she misses you like crazy. As for you Drew and Danny I miss you guys like brothers as much trouble as we got in to together if you guys need someone to talk to or just want to say hi call I maybe in colorado but I am always a phone call away. I know the Hughes family misses all of you. With all our love and prayers Elisa, Diana, Skeet, and Shawnee Hughes.

My sympathy and prayers go out to all of Repasky family. Bernie and I were band buddies, playing the trombone beside each other for yrs. at CSHS, along with Harold and Marnie. I wish I had been able to know Bernie as a young man, so I shall always remember him as the youngsters we were.
Remember the wonderful memories and I hope they soon ease your sorrow.
