I have very fond memories of General Ellis...the always smiling General.

He administered the oath to me when I received my officer's commission in 1978, the start of the MASH unit.

Every time I saw him, he reminded me that he recruited me.

I once told him about my Sister's dog passing. A few days later two wooden crosses, painted white and with ground stakes were left on my back patio. He made them himself. We still have the crosses and think of him each time we put them out.

A strong salute to you, General...a great soldier and a great man.

We are so sad to hear about Ernie. He always put a smile on our face with his jokes at the East Erie Turners. Helen you are in our thoughts and prayers.
