He was one of my greatest teachers and mentors - the greatest influence on me as a choral composer. The day he walked into my practice room while I was playing the euphonium and said, “hey, come with me for a few minutes. . . let me vocalize you” changed my life. I would come to realize later in life that he was one of the greatest choral artists I would ever meet and work with. I wouldn't be where I am today if he hadn't have discovered my inner choral geek!! I am eternally grateful for all he did for me and will forever cherish our conversations and his never-ending wisdom.
