I was very lucky to have heard his "Winterreise" when he came to Chicago back in the 70s. I will always treasure the memory of that performance.
I discovered Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau quite by chance when I was 16 when I heard a recording of Die Forelle, now 39, I have been listening to his recordings of Schubert's songs ever since and his moving interpretations. What a talent we have lost, but what a legacy remains. I dedicate Du bist die ruh to you Dietrich and Rest in Peace.
My sincere and deepest condolences to the Fischer-Dieskau family who have lost their loved one.

I for one am saddened that a great opera singer as Mr. Dieskau has passed away.
Their are only a few singers that give their whole selves, Mr. Dieskau was someone who will be greatly missed, my mother once told me to never give up singing Opera for it it something that will never die.
I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to you on the loss of your dear loved one. During a difficult time such as this, help from our loving Creator can prove helpful. In the bible book of James 1:27, we are invited to draw close to God, and He in turn will draw close to us. I hope that this will give you the needed help to cope during your grief.
My parents heard Mr. Fischer-Dieskau in recital in NY several times. I was privilaged also to hear him twice during my studies in Vienna, Austria. My condolences to his family.

I express my condolence to the family and may the God of all comfort be with you during this time of sorrow. 1 Cor. 1: 3,4
As an opera and art song lover there were very few singers which such stage presence and perfectly pitched voice. I shall miss him but not forgottem thanks to the many recordings I have of his melodious voice.
There will never be another voice like Dietrich's. Even though I'm not a musician, his singing has entertained and inspired me for years. Mr. D's recording of Carl Orff's: Carmina Burana has always been a favorite of mine. Just couldn't wait for when it was his time to sing. The celestial chorus has a fine new member.
Your voice inspired me to follow my dreams.
Fischer-Dieskau's mellow but strong voice will be very much missed, even though he has been retired for 20 years. Thankfully the many recordings that he made over the years will preserve his memory for future generations. His contributions are unparalleled, and his interpretations of Wagner characters are among those that moved me most.
An elegant and superb singer in a class by himself. Thank you, DF-D, and God Bless You.
He had the voice of an angel, the soul of a poet, and the perception of a particularly good literary critic.
Sorry for your loss, death is not what God planed for us that is why He has promised to do away with death that it will be no for He has promised.
Have enjoyed listening to this wonderful performer. Truly a legend
Sehe, meine Tage sind eine Handbreit vor Dir...
May God grant him rest and His Bliss.
Thank you. You have enriched all our lives.
A truly magical voice! He will be missed!
