As a young child, I loved to visit the Mares. Ernie and Amy were such exuberant and life loving people and my first true American friends. I remember many a wonderful visit where Ernie was always attentive, always announcing plans (like July 4 fireworks which I still remember 50 years later) and always great fun to be around. In later years we spent time with the whole family on the Coast. I remember a specific recording session of someone's snoring which had all of us in hysterics.
I think of you often Ernie and will miss you. Love Roberta
I worked with Ernie at Speed Variator from 1979 until his retirement. Great person with great sense of humor. Was a great person to work for and to work and the orders that he acquired.

We have only been neighbors of Ernie's since 2008, but our entire family knew him and loved him. He was so kind and welcoming and we loved his stories on the porch in good weather. We will miss him and always hold him in our hearts. Our deepest sympathies to his family.
The love and compassion of your family for each other are a tribute to Uncle Ernie. As a child, I remember the frequent handwritten letters he sent to our family in Colorado and to Grandpa Mares in Nebraska. He visited often, and as an adult, I came to understand his enjoyment of life and the twinkle in his eyes. All of you are his legacy. With sorrow and deepest sympathy,
Michail and Kathy Stolhand
What a lovely man, who did such good work and raised wonderful 'kids'. Tell the stories and remember the laughter.
So sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. My thoughts are with you and your sisters.
Patricia, Jeanne, Deborah, and Laura, I was sorry to
read of the passing of your father.
Dear Jeanne, I'm so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. My deepest sympathy to you and your sisters.
Sincerely, Diane (Borkowski) Grabowski
We were so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.
As long as he lives in your heart, he lives on. Cherish those memories, they are warm and loving as well as comforting. Jeanne you and your family are in my thoughts.
To all the Mares girls, I remember your Parents who lived down the street while I was growing up. Great people. Often in a singing group I'm in we would visit with him at Regency.
