I was always so proud of Grandpa for his service to our country during WWII. I have many memories of him telling us stories from the war, and the battles he fought in. I never grew tired of hearing that part of American history from a man who lived it. I believe without a doubt that God protected him overseas and graciously brought him back so that he could leave a legacy behind of the importance of family. I remember interviewing Grandpa about his experiences for a history project when I was in high school. I'm sure it was difficult for him to recall those events, yet he did so with courage, pride, and yes, even a few tears. Later, as an adult, when I briefly lived in Florida, I enjoyed visiting him and Grandma; taking walks through their community (he always would stay close by as we walked by the canal in order to point out the alligators nearby-even then he was watching out for his family; also going with him and Grandma to the flea markets and watching him barter. Grandpa, you are missed by your family! You truly are without a doubt a member of the greatest generation ever!
