Wow! What a man and what an incredible life he lived.
My Dad embraced all that life had to offer and he wasn't about to miss a beat. He had that special human ability that touched you in a unique way. I call it Dad's gift from god. He was always optimistic and you knew that he completely accepted, without a single judgement, the uniqueness of each and every person he knew. As we, his children, became adults, we saw this beautiful and unique quality in Dad.
This was "HIS WAY!"
I remember as a child a time when Dad was sleeping on the couch downstairs when I needed to go outside for something. It was a damp and wet day so I couldn't go out in just my sox. His shoes were tucked half under the couch and I thought, I'll just slip into them quickly rather than go all the way back upstairs for my own. It occurred to me... his shoes were quite BIG as I dragged them on my feet. It was impossible!
These are the reasons that I have come to realize the greatness of Dad and why he is my Hero. I wish that I could be 1/2 the man that he was and I know that I could still never walk in his shoes.
He was a REAL Superman!
