Gale Paulus Obituary

Gale A. Paulus, 77, of Bethlehem, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013, in her home. Born: in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Robert Itterly and the late Anna J. Walk. Personal: Her husband of 60 years, Kenneth D. Paulus, died in 2011. After raising her family Gale and her husband owned and operated The Midway Inn, Hellertown, from 1975 to 1978. She later worked as manager of Orr's Monocacy Room Restaurant until 1993 when she became Infant Room Supervisor at Creative Kids Club, where children and parents called her Mammy Gale , until she retired in 2002. She enjoyed league bowling and served as a Cub Scout Den Mother. While at Rosemont Lutheran Church she was a youth leader and nursery Sunday school teacher. Memberships: A member of Bethany UCC Church, Gale sang in the choir and was Head Nut of the Peanutmakers. Survivors: Daughters, Donna Taggart, Debra Gruver and husband, Wayne, Dorene Gumble and husband, Philip, all of Bethlehem, and DeAnn Hawkins and husband, Jason of Needmore, PA; sons, Donald and wife, Michelle of Frederick, MD and Dean and wife, Patricia of Bethlehem; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sarah Gruver. Services: will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, in Bethany UCC Church, followed by interment at Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem, and 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bethany UCC Church, 600 W. Market Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018.

My first job I ever had was working for Gale at Orr's in the Monocacy room. Gale myself and a grumpy cook named Charlie had many great times together. Gale always was wonderful to all of us that worked for her. I will never forget spending part of one Christmas eve with her and her family laughing singing and just having a great time. I went to school with DeAnn and always got on Dean for being a Dolphins fan. I am really sorry for the families loss. Gale was just the best and she will be deeply missed

To the entire Paulus family, those we know and those we have not had the pleasure of knowing. It is truly sad of Gail's passing but, remember the glad times, and take solice that she is with her loved ones that have gone before her. I worked for Gale when we were at the Monocacy Room at Orrs.I think that's were she got some of her white hair!
Little did I know at the time that I would be Dean's sister-in-law. It gave me the oppurtunity to know Gale better and to enjoy her fun loving personality.

We join the entire Paulus family in mourning the loss of Gale. She was a joy to know and just a short few words with her put a smile on your face. She lived with a positive attitude to the end in spite of increasing physical problems and personal loss. There will be a little less joy whenever we think of her. We feel blessed to have known Gale. Just the thought of her puts a smile in our hearts.

Our deepest condolences to the Paulus Family on the passing of Gale. My family has known Gale for over 40 years. As a youth I sang on the choir with her at Rosemont Lutheran Church. Gale was one of my first bosses, as I worked part time at Orr's Monacacy room while still in High School. Gale was always a lot of fun to be around and told some great stories!.
