William "Bill" J. Mannon, 84, of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on May 25, 2016 at Hackettstown Hospital in Hackettstown, NJ Bill was born on January 22, 1932 in Somerville, NJ to the late Francis & Cathern (Kendall) Mannon. Bill was a graduate of Washington High School class of 1950. He went on to further his education at Rutgers University. Not long after graduation he married the love of his life Joan. Bill was a farmer for the majority of his life. He owned and worked the Mannon Farm for 50 years. When he stopped farming, he earned his realtors license and worked for 15 years at Weichert Realty in Phillipsburg, NJ. Although farming took up the majority of his time, he still found time to serve his community. He was a director for 25 years and chairman of the Port Murray Milk Producers Association, a member of the Dairy Herd Improvement Association, for over 30 years. Bill was a past chairman for the Northeast Artificial Breeders Association, was a member of the New Jersey Farm Bureau, National Holstein Association, and past Director of the Warren County United Milk Producers Association. Bill was also past Director of the Warren County Farmers' Fair Association. He was a member of the Board of Agriculture, the Warren County Mosquito Commission, the Port Murray Creamery Committee, and The Mansfield Township Committee where he also served as Mayor. He was a past Mansfield Police Commissioner, a member of the League of Municipalities, a Notary Public, a member and past chief of the Butler Park Fire Company, a member of the Warren County Fire Chiefs Association, and a past member of the Mansfield Township School Board where he served as President for 9 years. Above all he was a family man. He cherished his family, he had a contagious smile and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Joan Mannon, his loving children, James Mannon and his wife Deborah, Robert Mannon, Patricia Mannon and her wife Michelle Gardner and Diane Mannon. 5 cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Christian, Cathern, Justin and Natolie. and a sister, Frances Williams. Friends and family may pay their respects on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Bill, you will be greatly missed, as you were always there for people. I worked for you while going to Washington High School. We would talk sometimes when I would see you at a Firemans Parade. You always had that Stogy you would some wether it was milking cows bailing hay. Rest now Bill, you have more then earned it!
