I'm so sorry for your loss, but very pleased that you shared so many "Happy" stories with me about your Mother & her "Bucket List", & she outsmarted the Doctors enough to have fullfilled her wishes. These stories, plus having the opportunity to have met her at the "Liberation of New Oxford", (she held my hand so tight & did not let want to let go) that made me feel very special.
So each time I do my Re-enactment there in town, she will be on my mind, & what WWII was all about. Now your parents are together in Heaven, what a Blessing !!

To Granny,
Meeting you and the family you raised and mentored has been one of the greatest pleasures of my life. Your wonderful smile and laugh and love of our good ol' Cowboys will be dearly missed. I thank you for the children you raised, as they all directly influenced and raised your granddaughter who has made me the luckiest man on the world. I thank you, You will be loved and missed.

To the Pohlman family: My thoughts are with you as you go through this time of hardship and I want to express my deepest condolences for the loss of such a Mother and Grandmother who was so loved.

Dear Pohlman Family:
My deepest sympathy in the loss of your mother. She was a customer of mine for many years, and I might say one of my favorites. We shared lots of laughs together and I know what a good person she was. I have missed our conversations many times over the years. You were blessed to have someone so special in your lives.

Pohlman Family:
After reading so many entries it is evident that your mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was one special lady. To have lived such a long, meaningful life and to have given and received so much love, is the best thing anyone can ever hope to accomplish when put on this earth. I know you will miss her terribly, yet every time you look at each other her love will shine through. My very deepest condolences to Tom (whom I know the best) and all of the rest of your family.

Granny,
It was a pleasure getting to know you and serve you whenever you came into the 81 Diner. I always looked forward to seeing you. You were a wonderful person, and no one will ever forget you or your smile. I'll miss seeing you at the diner. My sincere sympathies go out to her family. Rest easy Granny.

The people you lose do not want to see you suffer through that loss. There is no comfort in heaven over seeing our pain. What they want is for you to honor their memory, and to be grateful for the precious moments you shared with them. When the pain of grief hits hardest, perform an act of kindness in their memory. Love someone they loved, reach out, touch a heart in need and offer it up to them. Heaven will smile--- and the spirit of your loved one will reach out and embrace you. Your mother did a fantastic job of raising you all and may you all carry her spirit in your hearts.

May God wrap his arms around each of you and comfort you at this difficult time. You had a wonderful Mother with a beautiful smile. She never passed you by and never let you go without saying "I love you." All of you get along so well and helped so much. This truly shows you had a wonderful mother who brought you up with much love. You truly have a wonderful family....Love..Don & Dixie

March 10, 2013

Granny,
It's been a privilege to have known you for the past 8 years or so. You certainly were a unique individual with such spirit! From the first time I met you I felt as though you were just as much my grandmother as any of my biological grandmothers. I will always remember your spunk and your loyalty to your family...and the Dallas Cowboys. Don't worry, your Cadi will be taken good care of and I'm sure it will miss "Driving Miss Granny" around. "I'm 90 years old, that's pretty good!" We will all miss you tremendously but you have left us all with great memories and stories to tell for years to come. I love you. You will finally be reunited with the love of your life, have fun!

I knew Granny most of my life, and I don't think I could have told you her actual name. I had only EVER heard her called two things, "Mom" and "Granny". I think that says more about who she was, as a person, than anything else. If you ever had the opportunity to meet her, hear her stories and share a laugh, you'd always remember "Granny". Geraldine was a wonderful person, but it's "Granny" that I'll never forget!

Grandma,

I'd like to pay tribute to your life. I have some very fond memories to share. You are the one who taught me to play rummy. As a kid, on the summer days when school was out of session, I enjoyed staying with you and playing cards, passing the time away. It's safe to say that we both didn't like losing, but we would laugh. I will never forget having to cross the road to get to the 81 Diner for lunch. You would grab my hand and tell me to run across. When we got there, you were “famous in your small town”, everyone knew you and said hello. In that moment, you loved to show off your granddaughter. You were always proud of your family, and I always admired you for that. I miss the times when we used to go on the front porch and swing and just watch the cars pass by. You would laugh at me when I got the truck drivers to honk their horns. We sure had some fun, especially the time when I took you to the mall and pushed you around in a wheelchair. I will remember you for your most delicious apple dumplings. You used to make them and we would both sneak a piece of the cinnamony dough. I couldn't wait until they baked and we would eat them. As I got older, your pride in me never faded. You were delighted to say that your granddaughters, Leah and Caitie, went to Penn State. You loved the Nittany Lions. And your Cowboys…watching them just won't be the same without you. I will miss sharing in the glory and the frustration. I will think of you each time I am at the cabin and know just how much you loved it there. Grandma, I thank you for leaving behind a legacy. Thank you for your 8 wonderful children, whom I call my aunts and uncles. Thank you for my dad. Thank you for maintaining such a close-knit family that will remain strong for the rest of our days. I love you and I can't wait to see you again. In the words of John Mellencamp, “So be careful with your heart and what you love, Make sure that it was sent from above”, YOU were sent from above.

To the Pohlman Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Lizzy was one of a kind. She always was such a positive person and her family was her world. She loved each and everyone of you so so much. I have such fond memories of Lizzy from childhood when she would hang out with my parents..who thought the world of her...to when I married and Lizzy and my mother in law were always playing cards or bingo. When I lived at the trailer park and Joy was my neighbor then I always enjoyed seeing Lizzy then and Joy telling me stories. She was a remarkable lady and will truly be missed. Lizzy is definately one person I think lived life to the fulliest. Rest in peace Lizzy <3

I had the pleasure of meeting the Pohlman family 28 years ago. I remember Mrs. Pohlman as an energetic vibrant woman that wasn't afraid to tell you what she thought. She managed to raise a wonderful family, all who are hard working, out going, caring, and full of love. My family and I will truly miss her. I know GOD is very proud of her accomplishments for being such a GREAT MOTHER & FRIEND. Again, I am sorry for your loss.

Granny,
You were the best grandma any kid could hope for. You were an inspiration to us all and taught us so much. We all have Granny stories and none of them are negative! What a legacy to leave behind! You were always so proud of us all and you showed it! I'll never forget the time you walked me to every table in the diner to tell everyone there how I was your grand daughter and I was going to Australia for school. Or how when I first went to college and you told everyone "she's a Penn Stater, you know". I'll never forget all the card games we would play and the summers spent watching Soaps with you and eating those whole wheat pancakes :) I'm so glad that technology gave me the chance to "see" you these past few months. Phill will also miss you making him bashful telling him how handsome he was every time you saw him. I'm glad you're up in heaven now and get to be with Pap. Thirty years is a long time to be away from the love of your life! Now the two of you can dance and maybe you can put in a good word with God about those dang Cowboys. We all love you Granny and will miss you so much! Just as you were proud of us, we were all so proud of you! Rest easy now Granny!

Mom
Love, Faith and Hope were three amazing gifts you've shown me. The greatest of these was LOVE. Through all of my life and especially during those 24 years of sobriety you have blessed me with that LOVE. My gift to you, was for you to die peacefully at home and I'm glad that was also the Lord's gift to us all. You will always be near and dear to my heart.
With all my LOVE, Joe
