Dear Jane and Forbes family;
Our deepest sympathy to all of you that are suffering at this time. I knew Homer since Jr. High at New Oxford. I was a good friend of his sister Lori, when they went to TN to record their album, I was sent a picture that is signed by all of them. I have that picture to this day. I remember coming up for visits with my family from NC and he would tell all the time how much he loved NC and wish to live there some day. He use to make me laugh all the time listening to him talk about everything and anything. I could alway see the love that he had for God and how much he knew of the bible. He will be greatly missed by all. I pray for comfort and peace during this time for all of you. Remember him as he would want you too a man who cared and gave himself unselfishly to serve and help others. Homer friend.... go rest high on that mountain your work he is surely done.

Jane, You and Homer mean so much to us. When I would drive by the house I would look for a light in the shop. If it was later I would check upstairs for lights. I would beep even if you did not hear me. We miss our times after our hair cuts. Especially at the Mill when Homer would be onery. He was also so kind to my dad at Geneis. He made my dad's stay better. To the rest of the family. My heart brights up when we have seen each other. Homer would tell us how everyone was doing. No words can really say how the hole feels in our hearts here on earth. I know he is having a good time in heaven with his new body. Love all of you

I knew him through the Hair Studio and he was a class ahead of me in nursing school. If I needed any help he was always there to give input or just to listen. You will be greatly missed.
What a wonderful man! He was a great friend to both of my parents and I will always remember him for his beautiful voice and smile! May God be with the family and great peace be among them!
With deepest regards to Jayne and to the Forbes family...I had the pleasure of working with Homer a few years back..and he taught me something that left a imprint on me for the rest of my life..Homer was the most kind and caring caregiver that I have ever witnessed before. At the nursing homes he would show up 45 minuets early..off the clock ..his own time... to take care of these patients..he would tell the nurses of what patients in this room number that needed this or that...he cared for them...called them by there first name and knew there familys..there was nothing he would not do for his patients...when our jobs were done we would grab a quick McDonalds before we went on our next job site... and at the resturant Homer then became my inspiration personally.. he would always ask me "Are you happy doing this ? " " would you like to go back to school ? " He always cared.... But my favorite subject that I liked to talk to Homer was about God... :} God Bless you my dear...You are now one of Gods chosen Angels !
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jayne and his family, Homer was a wonderful, caring man and will be missed. Susan and Tom VanScoyoc

Homer will be truly missed by many people, he touched so many with his very kind, gentle and wonderful ways. I will always remember his kind and encouraging words and his wonderful smile. Prayers to all of you during this sad time.
I am so sad. I had planned to come see Homer soon. He was a great friend to my husband Shane and I. He stayed with us and our children for about 3-4 months in Mount Airy. He treated us as if we were his sister and brother. Well, the whole Forbes Family did. I didn't know Homer was sick. It saddens me terrible. Please know we love you all. I hope to see his family again one day. Stay strong ....he left his footprint here on this earth and he left a big impression on so many. He did ours. We love you all.
Your crown has been won Homer, though I will miss you greatly here on earth your impact in my life will never be forgotten. We'll meet again one day and what a rejoicing that will be. Jayne and the entire Forbes family, I love you all and wish I could take away your pain and sorrow. He's gone from our sight but will always live on in our hearts. You're in my prayers and thoughts.
Uncle Homer was the most amazing uncle I've had in my entire life! He was such a strong, warm heart, and very loving person. I remember Uncle Homer, Uncle Jay, Lisa Forbes Roberts(mom) & Aunt Lori Forbes Slate will sing & they sounded beautiful together. Homer was an awesome hair stylist & did my hair all the time! Also he was a phenominal worship leader. Whenever I was really upset he was always there by my side with his hand on my shoulder. I remember him always wearing his Jesus sandles with his jeans! Haha! Even though my Uncle Homer is gone, I will always remember him telling me to always stay strong with his famous pointer finger pointing at me! Uncle Homer, I will miss you more than ever! I bet your having fun in heaven singing in the choir with your piano! Love you!
Dear Jane and Forbes Family,
I am very sorry for your loss and know that Homer will be missed very much. My thoughts and prayers are with you today. Sincerely,
Thank you for teaching me so much in nursing school and in life. You always inspired me to be the best I can be in everything I do. Seeing the love and devotion you and Jayne shared also inspired me and gave me faith. I know Jayne and Lilly girl will be lost without you. As I type this I am listening to "farther Along" by Ricky Skaggs & The Whites...a song you said you loved.... Rest in peace dear friend.
Meeting Homer in nursing school was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Not only did Homer teach me to get thru the hurdle of learning algebra and giving an injection without passing out, he taught me to look at things from a patient's perspective. Through all the hours of studying together a great friendship emerged. I know Jayne and Lilly girl are going to be lost without you. I am going to miss you so much my dear friend, along with everyone else that you have touched in such a special way. It wasn't even 2 weeks ago we were talking about the song "Farther Along" by Ricky Skaggs & The Whites...as I type this I listen to it and think of you. Rest in peace.
Our thoughts and prayers to Jayne and family for their great loss. Homer was my barber and dear, dear friend. He will be greatly missed but not forgotten. The Spratt's ( Jerry & Donna)
Homer has given phrase and glory to GOD many times in and out of church in his life and music, he also shared his faith with others so GODs kingdom would be expanded. We have surely lost a good man but he will never be forgotten.

2 Corinthians 4: 16-18 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
From my perspective, this passage perfectly described your walk during this time.
Your strength and faith was profoundly moving.
It excites me to think of you now "seeing" the "unseen"!
God bless you, Homer!
While, where do I start. Homer, you were a GREAT friend. Ecclesiastics 7:1 Wise King soloman said,"A name is better than good oil,and the day of death than the day of one's being born." Homer certainly has made a good name with God and with so many others left behind. He truly will be remembered by all. He brought many smiles to all who knew him, and he will be missed.
Homer was a friend of my Daddy's and I have very fond memories of them playing music together. His laugh was contagious, and he was an incredible musician. I am so glad that his music was recorded time and time again for us to enjoy for years to come.
To Jane and all of Homer's family I extend sympathy to you. I am so very sorry for your loss. Homer was a very good man. One thing he did that I will never forget was he and some of his siblings sang at my Fathers' funeral 16 yrs ago, they sang 'Go Rest High on That Mountain' (a song by Vince Gill). Now Homer it is your turn, go rest high on that mountain, for your work on earth is done. Blessinga and Prayers to Jane and the entire Forbes family.

So sorry for ur loss.... May god guide you through this difficult time... ....god bless....
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
Ruth Ann Mahaffey (author)
In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.
