HILL Maurice Kenneth Vale Maurice Kenneth Hill The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union is very sad to hear of the passing of our esteemed past State President Maurice (Maurie) Hill. His early days were as Sheet Metal worker at the Railway workshops in Launceston, before his election to the position of State Organiser, then State President of the Amalgamated Metal Workers Union, and then the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union, until his retirement in 1997. Maurie always knew what he stood for and who he was standing with, he stood with working people and those who were doing it tough. Maurie was always a very strong advocate for working people and their families. He was a strong and tireless leader, a true Working-Class hero in so many ways. We know he will be sadly missed by all that knew and worked with him. The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union send our deepest sympathy to Maurie's family and loved ones. Vale to Maurice Hill, a man of the people and true working-class hero.

Hill Maurice (Maurie) Remembering Maurie with affection. As an organiser working with Maurie, I always found him to be professional, prepared to mentor, respected by his members and also his colleagues. There were also good times with lots of laughs. A great comrade always working for the betterment of others. A working class warrior. My thoughts to his family at this time. Senator Anne Urquhart.

Hill Maurice (Mauri) Comrade,"brother", mentor, icon of the Tasmanian Union movement. Fully respected by all unionists in seeking fair outcomes along with respect from honest employers, Commissioners and politicians of all creeds. The man of words, this was his bond and look out anyone trying to step outside an agreed position. He started as a sheetmetal worker at the railways rising to AMWU president. Mauri's loss is at a time workers must again realise the greediness in banks, businesses and their political puppets. The fight must continue. We are all proud of Mauri's achievements. Commiserations to Sally, Dave and his family. Condolences Mike and Jo Grey and family, Vurlie and (Ray - deceased) Devlin.
