I was a close friend of J's, at the age of 15 I cleaned his apartment which was across the street from the church, then cleaned his house when I was newly married. I loved the convertible rides, and his steak meals he would fix us after I finished cleaning. Jay was a very happy and pleasant person to be around. My parents would make homemade ice cream a lot and J would happily helped us eat it. He will be missed greatly, he was a big part of my growing up years.

I sang with Jay in the Declarations of Independence Community Chorus and the Raytown Community Choir. He had an outstanding voice, a wicked sense of humor and a generous giving spirit. Jay was a guest in our home many times and I socialized with him outside of choir as well.

I loved him as a friend and will miss him. I am glad I have many tapes and CD's of his singing voice, so he will continue to be in my life through music.

I am grateful for the life of Mr. Turner. Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.
