I first remembered Mary as the girl's Gym teacher at Washington High school "Miss Hughes". Then later on when Mary wed Bert Essex they elected to attend the Bethel Congregation of the Community of Christ church where I attended at that time. Real nice folks to be around.

I have very fond memories of Mary and Burt singing in the Independence Messiah Choir for many years. She was a wonderful lady--always smiling and straight forward. She'll be missed. Eileen Terril

To the Essex family. Please accept my deepest condolences. May knowing that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many bring a measure of comfort. We look forward to the time when all things that cause sickness and death will be eradicated by God's Kingdom. Matthew 6: 9, 10
