I remember Ed from Finders Keepers aka Cash cash. I was in Casting in Vancouver for that Film. Ed was a very quiet individual on set as I recall. I am sorry to hear of his passing only two days ago. A good actor, you either loved or hated his roles. I will never forget him as captain Kanauer in Longest Yard. RIP buddy.

If Ed Lauter hadn't been born, he would have to have been invented. He was a great actor, whether you loved his characters, or hated them. Whether he was bad guy persona with a heart of gold, or the consummate "second fiddle" guy, I loved watching him on the screen.

Rest easy, Mr. Lauter. You've entertained millions, and the world is a better place for your having lived.

I had the privilege of meeting him one time in a supermarket in Long Beach, California and he was so cool about me recognizing him! He will be missed by every fan and I pray that God gives his family comfort in this trying time.
