Levone was a true friend who believed in the civil rights for all people even the people from his own hometown of Mt. Gilead and Montgomery County. He will be truly missed and we attendedd high school together. Family know that you and yours are in our prayers as you go through this difficult time. May God see you through. May God bless the legacy and life of Julius Chambers by another young attorney receiving the torch of justice for all and fight for the rights of all mankind.

May he rest knowing that the torch has been past and is in noble hands.

Mr. Julius is resting. When he is awakened from his sleep, he will be happy to have the opportunity to live forever in a peaceful earthly paradise. Here the righteous from all nations will dwell forever. Psalms 37:29

I was personally a beneficiary of his good deeds and hard work. First, as a product of the segregated school system Charlotte during the late 60's and 70's. Secondly, as an alumnus of NCCU, where Mr. Chambers served as Chancellor. He helped guide our alma mater to another level. Thank you Mr. Chambers for your devotion and commitment. My prayers to his family.

It has been a blessing in my life to know Julius and Vivian in law school and in the practice of law when we were on opposite sides. Always a gentleman and a man of honor. Few persons achieve such examples of great contributions to the betterment of mankind. Fountain Odom

Julius Chambers led a very inspiring and dedicated life! It is painful to read of the difficulties of his early life, especially the man who cheated his father of the money intended for Julius to go to college. But in the spirit of Gandhi and Martin Luther King, he was a peaceful and non-vengeful man. This state and this country were blessed by his life!

Julius Chambers was one of the great figures in the history of Charlotte of the past half-century. A man of tremendous moral character and personal strength, he helped the city navigate the transition to a more just public school system. All of us who live or who have lived in Charlotte owe him a debt of gratitude.
