Your Mother was an exceptional woman and will be deeply missed. I met her only once: on December 5, 1967. It was a dinner party at your parents' home for Lynda Bird and Chuck and members of their wedding party. . . President Johnson was not expected to be there but he did indeed arrive. That memory of a gracious and elegant hostess remains. Mrs. Boggs was as gracious to me as she was to the President of the United States. God bless you and your family, Mary Ruth Hassett (formerly Coleman).

My deepest sympathy to the Boggs Family. Many years ago Mrs. Boggs helped resolve a problem for me. She was truly a Great Lady and will be missed.

Dear Ms. Roberts: In 1998 I had the privilege of meeting your mother in Malta to celebrate the Order of Malta's 900th anniversary. We had breakfast at the same table one morning. When I told her I belonged to the Hungarian Association, she immediately asked that I introduce her to Paul Tar, whom she found "so attractive", and who was her counterpart from Hungary at the Vatican. I gladly obliged that evening during a formal reception. Your mother and the Tars became fast friends as a result. Please accept my deepest sympathies, and convey the same sentiments to your family. Margit Serenyi, DM, Hungarian Association, Potomac, MD.

Thanks for sharing your mother with us.
May the greatest comforter enfold you in His arms and comfort you. May the beautiful memories of your mother always warm your heart.

When I was a graduate student in New Orleans, I did my internship at the VAMC in the 80s(it was a no pay internship)and I wrote Mrs. Boggs and explained to her that I was a single parent who was finishing my Master's Degree in Counseling. I asked if she could help me find money while to assist me during the summer. I don't know how she did it but the next day when I went to work, they called me in the office and money was available (I was given bus tokens also). I appreciated her then and now. She made a difference. As a Career Coach I encourage students to do everything they can do to further their education and to ask for help.
