Garland Reid Tanksley ROXBORO-Garland Reid Tanksley 63 of 604 W. Gordon Street, died Monday, March 25, 2013 at Person Memorial Hospital. Born in Pittsylvania County Va., son of E. G. Tanksley, Jr. & Melba Gosney Tanksley of Danville, Va., Mr. Tanksley worked for the The Furniture Mart & America Mattress Outlet, he graduated from Averett College in Danville. He served in the National Guard & was a member of Roxboro Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife Pat Lewis Tanksley of the home, his son Drew Tanksley & wife Shanna of Roxboro, his brother E. Dale Tanksley of Danville, Va. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Roxboro Baptist Church by the Rev. DuPre Sanders. The family will receive friends following the service at the church and other times at the home. Honorary Pallbearers will be: The Men's Sunday School Class Memorials may be made to The Forward by Faith Building Fund, P. O. Box 348 Roxboro, NC 27573 or Antioch Baptist Church Building Fund, 677 Antioch Church Road, Timberlake, NC 27583 or a charity of one's choice. I remember Reid from my first years at GLHJohnson through high school. He was always so kind and considerate to everyone around him. We loved our crossing guard, Mrs. Tanksley. I have fond memories of you as well. I am so sorry for your loss and praying for all of the family and friends.
