James T. Parsons, 76
Brooklyn Union Gas retiree, volunteer for many charities
James T. Parsons, 76, of Staten Island, N.Y., formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020.
He was the loving son of the late Marion and Gerard Parsons; beloved husband of 50 years to Belle Parsons (nee Opperman); loving father of Emil, Colleen, Erika and James; cherished brother of Edward and Gerard Parsons; loving brother-in-law to Mary Parsons, Ellen Parsons and Jane Onida; proud Pop-Pop Jim of 14 grandchildren, and proud uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim worked at Brooklyn Union Gas for 45 years as a supervisor. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and member of the American Legion Goldstar post. He proudly served in the National Guard for nine years from 1963-1972. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Adalbert's R.C. Church, a Third Order Lay Carmelite, and a Eucharistic adorer. He devoted a lot of volunteer time to multiple charities. Jim should always be remembered as a kind, loving and helpful person who would help anyone in need.
Funeral from Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home, 1289 Forest Ave., Staten Island, N.Y., on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, at 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Adalbert's R.C. Church at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be sent to the Perlmutter Cancer Center, 240 E. 38th St., 19th Floor, N.Y., N.Y. 10016.

Dear Jim, January 5th is embedded in our minds, and hearts. Your journey on this earth stopped that day. The good Lord knew your assignment here was through. It was time for you to spend eternity with him and your loved ones in heaven.Although we have lost many family members Christmas is bitter sweet. Your memory lives on in our hearts. Hi Jim it´s been two years since your passing. We all miss seeing you, especially on the holidays. Our family is getting smaller and smaller. I know you´re enjoying your family and friends up in heaven. Here on earth we all have to make adjustments to the situation. We are doing the best we can to fulfill our journey here. Hi Jim, One year ago today we lost you. I know you’re in disbelief as to what is happening on earth. Maybe you could talk to the Big Guy to solve a lot of our problems here on earth.
