SMSgt. Joseph ""Joe"" A. Michetti, Sr., 85, of Niceville, Florida unexpectedly went home to his heavenly father on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. Joe was born in East Boston, Massachusetts on June 25, 1935, to the late Gaspro & Sylvia Gagliolo Michetti.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife & the love of his life for 46 years, Patricia Wyman Michetti, who passed away on July 12, 2020. Joe is also preceded in death by his son-in-law Michael Williams, grandson, Cody ""Joe"" Eifert & son Guy M. Sadler.
Joe is survived by his daughters Tanya Jo Maloy (Charlie) & Theresa Sadler Williams, son Joseph A. Michetti, Jr.; grandchildren Zack Sadler (Paula), Mallory Sadler, Emily Jennings (Brent) & Kristina Compton (Jason); great-grandchildren Rylee Smith, Finnegan & Fischer Sadler, Preston, Hunter & Liam Compton, Michael & Cooper Jennings; brothers Edward, Ronald & Albert & sister Marie and many other friends and family.
Joe joined the Air Force, where he proudly served for 28 years. Joe served 10 years as a Missile Maintenance Superintendent at Holloman AFB. After being transferred in 1970 to Eglin AFB, Joe was responsible for safety at the Historic McKinley Climatic Laboratory until his retirement in 1980. Joe received many awards & medals while serving in the Air Force. There are too many to list! After retirement, Joe started his prestigious custom home building business Joe Michetti Homes. He retired for good in 1998, after 18 years in the building industry. During this time, Joe served as a member, board member & president for the Homebuilders Association of Okaloosa-Walton Counties, from 1983-1998. Joe was also the president at Rocky Bayou Country Club from 1996-1997.
In 2010, Joe graduated from UF & became a Master Gardener Volunteer. Testing Okaloosa County resident's soil. Joe was nominated for many awards as a volunteer. He served as Treasurer for 2 years & actively volunteered for 10 years, working 1750 volunteer hours. Joe was instrumental in securing a location, to assist the public in the Niceville area. Joe worked closely with Lannie Corbin (Niceville City Manager) to make his vision come to light. The first location was at the Niceville Youth Center & current location is at the Niceville Senior Center.
Those who knew Joe & know him today can attest to his exemplary character, unmatched reputation for honesty, personal integrity, highest standard of personal & professional ethics & the love for his family!
A graveside celebration service will be held on Saturday, September 12th at 10am, Sunset Cemetery in Valparaiso. Attire, Boston Red Sox gear. Arrangements are under the direction of Emerald Coast Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to UF IFAS Okaloosa County Extension, ""Master Gardeners"", 3098 Airport Road, Crestview, FL 32536.

Joe was a great guy and coworker. We worked at the climatic lab at the same time. I did administration and Joe safety. Since I was the only female there at that time, I was treated very well. It was a tight group and unique work. Joe kept everyone in line. Rest in peace joe.
