FAYETTEVILLE - Retired Air Force Master Sgt. Ralph Edwin Tolar, 85, of Fayetteville, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mr. Tolar was born June 19, 1928, in Wayne County, the son of the late Leland E. Tolar and Alma Jackson Tolar. He was a Mason and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He also retired from Civil Service at Fort Bragg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, in Butler Funeral Home chapel in Stedman, with the Rev. Ed Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. A private burial with military honors will be held at a later date at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. Survivors include his wife, Yoshiko Tolar of the home; daughter, Peggy Wallace and husband Jeff of Brunswick, Ga.; son, Charles Tolar and wife Alice of Sanford; and two grandchildren, Nic Wallace and Jake Wallace of Brunswick. Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home of Stedman.
