ROBERT EUTEN Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 23, 2013.

Robert Wilson "Bobby" Euten, Sr. COWARD, S.C. - Mr. Robert Wilson "Bobby" Euten, 64, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 21, 2013, in the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia after a long illness. Mr. Euten was born in Darlington on April 25th, 1948. He was a son of the late Jollie Davis Euten and the late Vernie Nesbit Euten, and was the husband of Mary Dianne Lamb Euten. Mr. Euten worked for many years as a mill yard foreman with White's Timber Company in Pamplico, and was a veteran on the United States Army where he proudly served with distinction during the Vietnam War. Mr. Euten fought in the United States Army Infantry where he was promoted to the rank of Squad Sergeant. He received two sacred Purple Heart Medals for injuries sustained during his many battles. He saw vicious combat during his three tours which served proudly for his country. Mr. Euten had a great passion for fishing. He loved to go try to catch anything that would bite - Mr. Euten would throw a hook in a mud puddle if he thought he could pull out a fish. Mr. Euten enjoyed fishing for bass and bream on Lynches River and Black River, and going after catfish and spots down at Santee. Mr. Euten was a hard-worker who will be remembered as a fun guy who was a jack-of-all-trade and enjoyed his time outdoors. Mr. Euten's surviving family includes his wife of thirty-eight years, Dianne C. Euten, of the home; his two children, Robert Wilson Euten, Jr. (Veronica), of Johnsonville and Derrick Euten (Casey), of Coward; his step-daughter, Pamela Jones (Dorsey); his eight grandchildren, Matthew Euten and Hannah Euten, both of Johnsonville, Hunter Euten and Cameron Euten, both of Coward, Rusty Welch, of John-sonville, Tabitha Jones, Heather Jones Strickland (Ben), and Joshua Jones, all of Scranton; his four great-grandchildren, Ariel Smith and Aislynn Smith, both of Darlington, and Trinity Strickland and Rudy Strickland, both of Scranton; his seven siblings, Dolly Lee, of Lake City, Roxy Snyder, of Chicago, Illinois, Rita Mary Euten, of Coward, Henry Euten, of Darlington, Cole C. Euten, of Hartsville, and Linda Euten, of Hartsville. Mr. Euten is preceded in death by his three siblings, Audrey Mae Cox, Dale Parker, and J.D. Euten. The family of Mr. Euten will have calling hours from five until seven o'clock p.m., Saturday, March 23rd, 2013, in the funeral home. Funeral services for Mr. Euten will be held at three o'clock p.m., Sunday, March 24th, 2013, in the Keels Brockington Memorial Funeral Chapel of Brockington Funeral Home.
