Robert Ratcliffe Obituary

Robert Raymond (Bob) Ratcliffe Sr., of Pilot, went to be with Jesus, whom he faithfully served while here, on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. He was born on October 12, 1929, to Waddy and Nannie Ratcliffe. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, his best friend, Clover McNeil Ratcliffe. Also surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Bob Poff; and Kathy and Bill Poff; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert R. Jr. "Zeke" and Cindy Ratcliffe; his grandsons and granddaughters, Robbie Poff and wife, Kristal; Laura Ratcliffe, Kaci Ratcliffe and Robert W. Ratcliffe.
He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, George and Dorothy Ratcliffe; his sisters and brother-in-law, Sue and George Kouzoures and Nancy Altice; sisters-in law and brothers-in law, Aliene and Arlo Sowers, Pauline Pitsinger, William Morgan, Ocie McNeil, Gloria McNeil, Alvin and Betty McNeil, Carl and Ramsey McNeil, and Lois and Ron Sedlacek. Many nieces and nephews also loved him.
We especially want to thank Roger and Carolyn Ratcliffe for all they have done for him. Mr. Bob will be greatly missed by his church family at Cedar Springs Union Church, to which he was faithful for over 60 years.
Daddy loved doing things for others, taking care of his farm and cattle, and trading farm machinery. He made friends everywhere he went. His desire was that each of his friends would someday visit with him again in Heaven. Many thanks to all those who visited and prayed during his illness, especially Emory, Judy, and Zoe Altizer.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012, at Horne Funeral Home Chapel, Christiansburg, with the Rev. Neal Turner and the Rev. Leon Alley officiating. Interment will follow in the Huffville Cemetery, Floyd.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Riner Rescue Squad or to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth St., Santa Monica, CA 90401 (pcf.org). Online condolences may be left by visiting www.hornefuneralservice.com.

I am so sorry for your loss. Bob was such a great person and friend before and during my late husband's death, Ronnie, at D & H Tractor Sales. He was always a blessing and Ronnie thought the world of him. May the Holy Spirit comfort you and your family at this time.

Bob was one of the finest people I have ever known. I dealt with him on several farm equipment deals at Boone Tractor. Bob was true to his word and was always a gentleman. I consider him as an example of how I should conduct and Iive my life. I feel very blessed to have known Bob and to call him a friend. Words cannot express how much he will be missed. To his family you are in my thoughts and prayers.

God saw him getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around him
and said, "Come to me." May the comfort of God help you through this difficult time.
