MILO - S. Jayne Olender, 92, a lifelong Christian, headed out for her heavenly adventure on Sept. 17, 2013. She was born on New Years Day 1921, in Springfield, Ohio, to Lorretta and Arthur Stanley.
Jayne was the class vice president at Springfield High School where she graduated and went on to business school. She married Bud Olender, and executive engineer with General Motors, in 1954, had two children, and two great aunts to keep busy with. Divorced in 1969, she worked as a secretary for William Sullivan Funeral Home in Royal Oak, Mich., until she retired in 1978. Jayne, lived life with an enthusiastic spirit, was a world adventure traveler who visited every continent in unique ways with the Nomads of Detroit, Mich. She has road in a zodiac boat and walked with penguins in Antarctica, went paragliding from the Swiss Alps, rode elephants in Thailand, taken small boats into back country Russia, hiked Machu Picu, road a snowmobile in Yellowstone National Park, whitewater rafted in Alaska, walked on the Great Wall of China, just to name few.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Ardis Pero and Virginia "Jerry" Rojas; brother, Wallace Stanley and his wife, Phylis; and a great number of friends and extended family. Jayne is survived by her daughter, Jaye Olender of Milo; son, James Olender and his wife, Arita, of Syracuse, Ind.; sister, Delores Vigoda, of Sharon, Mass.; nieces, Valerie Vigoda of Sharon, Mass., Sandi Peasley and her husband, Don, of Long Beach, Calif., Sue Keiswetter and her husband, Tom, of Petoskey, Mich., Sherri Seib, of Dallas, Texas; great-nieces, Betsy Anderson and husband, James, of Palo Verdes Estates, Calif., Cindy Keiser and her husband, Denis, of Spring Hill, Tenn., Victoria Hayes and her husband, Tom, of Vancouver, Wash., and Nina Rose Vigoda of Sharon, Mass.; and great-nephews, Matt Keiswetter and his wife, Sarah, of Birmingham, Mich., Andrew Keiswetter, of Denver, Weston Seib and his wife, Erica, of Dallas, Texas, and Mark Peasley and his wife, Brandi, and their children, Olivia and Evan of Houston. She is a part of all her family and friends.
One of her favorite quotes from Helen Keller was, "That which we have once loved becomes a part of us forever."
