GRIMESLAND, NC - Arthur Adkins, 65, died September 3, 2018 peacefully at home with family in Greenville, NC. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 4:00pm at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville. Conducting the service will be Rev. Randall Mills. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Arthur was fondly known as "Junior". He was born on October 19, 1952 in Fayetteville, NC. Junior was a veteran, a loyal and trustworthy employee, a gentle soul, and a friend to all. He valued the simple things in life and had a huge heart, a happy smile, and a warm hug for everyone he met. He was a big fan of television and movies, boiling peanuts in September, good Eastern North Carolina barbeque, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved being outdoors, around horses, and spending time at Emerald Hill Farm. Preceding him in death are his parents, a sister Nancy and brothers Buck and Mike. He is survived by sisters Judy Sangmeister (husband-Len) of Grimesland and Patricia Harvey (husband-Ed) of Leeds, Maine. He is also survived by nieces Christal Coley of Grimesland, Tina (Fiance-Anthony Edgmon) of Greenville and Sheri Dunn of Greenville, nephews Danny Dunn, Russ Edwards (girlfriend-Kelly Mavess) of Greenville, and many friends. A special thank you to Christal Coley, his niece who stayed with him and took care of him during his last few months and to Harry, Meg, Ashley and Will Cooke whom he loved like family. Donations may be made to Rocking Horse Ranch Therapeutic Riding Program, 1721 Blue Banks Farm Rd. Greenville, NC 27834, which offers support and therapy for veterans.
