Arthur Rantala Obituary

Rantala, Arthur R.

Arthur R. Rantala, 76 years, of W2709 Cty Hwy TW, Mayville, WI, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014, peacefully, at his home that he and his wife built, surrounded by his loving family.

Art was born on September 21, 1937, in Oulu, WI, to William and Nellie (Juntila) Rantala. He was a 1955 graduate of South Shore High School in Bayfield County. Art was united in marriage to Barbara Lee Elsinger on November 12, 1961, in Horicon. Art was employed, until retirement, as an over the road truck driver.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara; his sons, Michael (Mary) Rantala of Muskego; Mark (Robin) Rantala of Mayville; and Matt Rantala of Mayville; his sisters, Gladys Korhonen and Marlene (Joe) Aguwire; his grandchildren, Kandace, Grant, Trent, and Ryan. He is further survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 9 brothers and sisters.

The entire Rantala family would like to express their sincerest thanks for the thoughts and prayers of family, friends, and others who knew Art. A private memorial gathering will take place later this spring at his home, and final resting place.
