Harmsen, Dennis John
Dennis John Harmsen, 62, of Waupun, died Friday, August 15, 2014 at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.
Dennis was born March 26, 1952 to John B. and Evelyn Westhuis Harmsen at Waupun Memorial Hospital. He attended school in Alto and graduated from Waupun Sr. High in 1970. Dennis attended Moraine Park Technical College and received his degree in Data Processing. He also worked for the City of Waupun Public Works for 26 years. Dennis married Janet Kaul on April 28, 1973. Dennis enjoyed hauling milk for his father and friends. He also enjoyed the Alto Fair, camping, and was an avid Packers, Brewers, & Fond du Lac Bears fan. Dennis was his boys number 1 fan for hockey, baseball, and soccer teams.
Dennis was a member of Pella Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder.
Dennis is survived by sons: Derek (Kelli) and Jeremy (Sarah) Harmsen; granddaughter, Evelyn Harmsen; brother, Byron (Lorna) Harmsen; sister, Diane (Donald) Koch; the mother of his sons, Janet Kaul Harmsen; nieces and nephews; K9 companion, Speedy; and many other family, friends, and co-workers.
Funeral services for Dennis John Harmsen will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Rev. Mike Stock officiating. Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Tuesday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
