It is with much sorrow that I learned of the passing of Bernie DiNatale. Bernie hired me in 1995 as a school librarian serving the Chelmsford Public Schools. His belief in my abilities was strong, so strong that he recommended I be hired even prior to the completion of my master's degree at Simmons College.
Bernie continued to believe in me and to show me the true meaning of the word "team." He was a consumate professional and a true mentor of many. His belief in the value of school libraries was unprecedented, and Bernie was never one to shy away from following his beliefs.
I had the pleasure of working with Bernie not only in the Chelmsford Public Schools, but also with him as consultants to the Los Angeles Unified School District after he retired.
Bernie knew the value of each and every member of his team, and treated everyone with equal respect and collegiality.
I have always felt honored to have known Bernie and to have been part of his team for the Chelsmford Public Schools.
Bernie DiNatale was an exemplary educator, leader, and friend. May he rest in peace.
