I'll always remember
your special smile,
your caring heart,
your warm embrace,
you always gave me.
You being there
through good and bad times,
no matter what.
I'll always remember
you Pop because
they'll never be another one
to replace you in my heart,
and the love I will always
have for you.

Our deepest sympathy to the family of such a wonderful person. Just catching up on a pile of sentinels and discovered this sad news.Pastor Carter was most instrumental in my close walk with the Lord, and baptized me into the "family of God" 33+ years ago. He taught the Word of God in an easy manner you just couldn't miss. The world has lost a wonderful teacher, and He now has his many "crowns of glory". We will all see him again and
his legacy will live on in all that knew him.

Rev. Donald P. Carter was the first pastor of Patriots Congregation at Fort Devens, MA (1971- 1984) during this time, the US Military only allowed religious services for 3 denominations: Catholic, Jewish and Protestant. Rev. Cater led the 1st service to incorporate, Baptist and Pentacost roots while adding a choir which he named “The Fort Devens Gospel Choir” While under his leadership, attendance tripled. At one time 3 additional choirs and several musicians were added to the weekly services. As the congregation grew, he mentored several young men and women into the ministry.
After he left his pastoral duties at Ft Devens, he still attended FT. Devens Gospel Choir anniversary, until the base was slated for closure in 1995. He continued to follow up and check on his former members and keep us updated. My mother was the choir president for many years. Recently, he called to check on her when she was recovering from some medical treatments. His ministry taught us to love and accept all kinds of people, not just those who look like you. He will be missed.
May God continue to bless you.
